Look, the TNB tower is so close to the Chinese school and the houses at Kg Terentang, Rawang
I presume all of you might be aware of the protest of the Kg Terentang people at Rawang over the high tension wire crossing their village. The villagers have been protesting for 3 years. This has been a main elections issue in Rawang during this March elections. It is believed that it is one of the reasons of why Tang See Hang and BN Parliamentary candidate lost in the elections.
They are the back-bone of the Kg Terentang protest committee. They gave me one of their T-shirts too :-))
Now the ball is in the Selangor government’s court. You might be surprised to hear that we have called all parties involved to the the MTES (mini exco meeting) meeting for about 6 times in the last three months, namely the Kg Terentang protest TNB lines committee, the committee who opposed to the alternative line, and the TNB. These three groups have hired lawyers and electrical engineers to argue and debate before us in the meeting. They made us feel so torn in the meeting. It is soooo difficult to make a decision that can satisfy them.
Finally, last Saturday, the excos led by the MB decided to pay a visit to Rawang and to see the proposed alternative routes and visit Kg Terentang as well. We arrived at Rawang at about 8.30am, we have climbed up to many hills under the sun to see the TNB lines that were proposed by the Kg Terentang committee. I should say that it is a tiring visit for all of us, but it is also an eye-opener as the alternative route proposed by the Kg Terentang committee doesn’t affect any factories or houses, this means the protest made by the group that opposed to alternative route is not true.
The MB of Selangor, excos and villagers at the top of the hill.
At about 11.30am, we arrived at Kg Terentang, we met with villagers who wore T-shirts that protest against the TNB tower, and we have a chance to see how close is the TNB tower to the school and the houses there.
The alternative route of TNB lines will go through a lot of no man’s land.
The proposed lines will cut across many green areas.
The scenary of Rawang outskirts is so beautiful, right? This photo taken when I was walking down from one of the hills
MB Tan Sri Khalid then addressed the crowd at the tent. All of us did not know what will MB say in his speech after the site visit. I was very worried that the crowd will get emotional too. Thank God that Tan Sri Khalid has handled the situation pretty well. He said the government will consider the alternative route for TNB line, we will hire consultant to study the proposed alternative route as well as the possibility to do underground lines. He also told the villagers that this TNB lines are very important to the whole Klang Valley and we have delayed it for too long. The villagers gave great applaud to his speech, the cheered and clapped during his speech. I then felt relieved.
To make decision over the Rawang TNB line is a very difficult thing. I pray that we will come out with a solution that satisfies everyone, and resolves the case once and for all.
Meeting with the villagers of Kg Terentang.

Dear YB,
Can we carry out some study? Get all cancer patience within Malaysia to fill in some survey questions.
What I am interested to know if there are some relationship between cancer with High Tension Transmission? Mobile phone antenna etc.
What we need to do is get all cancer patient detail from hospital and visit each of their house and interview them for life styles habits
If you can get some funding, I wouldn’t mind contribute the time.
Regards
Shiok Guy

well, the thing is that the MB and his second in command took the trouble to organise and attend long drawn out meetings, then took to the field to observe first hand the proposed site
this shows that the current state government is practising what it preaches, doing things for the people
look at BN, since GE, the notable contributions are
1) raise petrol fuel
2) bought mercedez
3) stop funding to RP controlled states
4) prevent PR elected WR to walk into schools
Now who is governing properly?
Besides the possibility of the power lines causing cancer, there is always the danger of electrocution if one or more of the power lines were to snap.
Laying the high tension wires underground, like what is done in advanced countries such as Denmark and Australia, will not only ensure the safety of people but will alao preserve the natural beauty of the surrounding area. Have the new Selangor government initiated any development or tourism projects yet to benefit the people of Rawang?
