Press statement by Teresa Kok, Member of Parliament for Seputeh, State Assemblywoman for Kinrara, Senior Exco Kerajaan Selangor on 8th September 2012 at Shah Alam

I urged Prime Minister Najib to drop the criminal charges or any stern actions against those stepped on his photo on the eve of Merdeka Day since they have apologized to him in public. The two youths Mohammad Ammar A Rahman’s and Ong Sing Yee’s apologies were published nearly on every local daily’s front page. What more Najib wants them to do?
I truly hope Najib as the Malaysia as well as world leader would show his generosity by not only forgiving them, yet also to forget their naïve acts.
I want to condemn Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein’s requests of stern action to be taken against Ong and Mohammad Ammar because such heavy-handed action has truly proven that the BN Government is exercising double standards and selective prosecution by taking action only against those is not in their favor.
I want to ask the Home Minister what action has been taken against those carried out a funeral rite for Lim Guan Eng even though their identities are clearly shown and evidenced. That is not the only case. It is more disappointed and saddened that no actions have been taken against the buttock dancers who has humiliated and threaten Dato’ Ambiga in front of her house.
The police’s double standards by taking actions against those humiliates and threats BN’s and Pakatan Rakyat’s political leaders has surely weaken public’s confidence towards the credibility of the police.
