Leaders from 88 Generation and AIPMC members had a great fellowship. The man on first left is Kraisak (former Thai senator), the man third on the right is SonnChay (MP from Cambodia). These two men and Lim Kit Siang are pillars of AIPM.
On the second day morning, we met with the leaders of 88 Generation, an activist NGO who fought for justice of the Burmese. These activists were former political prisoners who have been released few years ago. They were the student activists who rose up against the repressive military regime in the bloodshed revolution in 1988. Thousands of people, including monks died in the incident.
Many of these former student leaders have gone to jail for more than 10 years. Their leader is KoKoGyi. I salute them from the bottom of my heart. After they were released from imprisonment, they still continue their struggle for the Burmese people, particularly workers who have been exploited by big companies and the government. They said they used to have dialogue with minister of human resource and organized protest that fight for the workers’ rights.
KoKoGyi told us that some of them are interested to contest in coming general elections. At the moment, they are neutral and they have their own views on issues that facing the nation. They are not part of National League for Democracy (NLD) Aung San Suu Kyi’s party.
