DAP member Teh Teong Guan’s criticism against Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Dato Seri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim over the alleged support letter by his political secretary Faekah Husin was improper disrespectful to the spirit of the Pakatan Rakyat coalition.
This issue was discussed at the Pakatan Rakyat Selangor leadership meetings and the Menteri Besar had already satisfactorily explained in detail why Faekah’s letter did not flout the circular on support letters. The matter has thereafter been laid to rest.
It has been explained time and again that Faekah had merely forwarded an application by a legal firm to be on the legal panel of state subsidiary Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad (PNSB) – a company in which she holds no position. This legal firm was never given any work by PNSB.
In contrast, former local councillor Tee Boon Hock misused the letterhead of a state executive councilor to support the appointment of his son’s company as a contractor to the Klang Municipal Council (MPK), on which he served as a councilor.
As a councilor of MPK then, Tee was in a position to influence the selection of contractors for MPK. To make matter worse, he had issued similar support letters earlier for contractors who subsequently received jobs from MPK.
I strongly advise DAP members to use the existing internal channels within Pakatan Rakyat to air their worries and concerns instead of using the media which will only serve to compromise the good working relationship between party members.
