Photo: The residents and shop owners of the shop houses at Pekan Salak South and I were having a mini protest at Menara DBKL to demand that DBKL resolve the flash floods problem at Pekan Salak South

After several postponements, finally the representatives of residents and shop owners of the shop lots at Pekan Salak South and I managed to meet up with Datuk Bandar Kuala Lumpur Tan Sri Ahmad Fuad Bin Ismail to voice out our concerns over the flash floods that hit Pekan Salak South on 2.5.2012 which has caused hundreds of thousands of ringgit in loses.

In the meeting, we have once again sought Datuk Bandar’s help and assistance to look into the root causes of the flash floods and to resolve the problem as soonest possible. We were told that the flash floods which hit Pekan Salak South on 2.5.2012 was due to an extra heavy downpour on 2.5.2012 plus heavy rain-water released from the flood retention pond at Sri Johor into Sg. Kerayong which is managed and controlled by Jabatan Pengairan dan Saliran Malaysia.

We have further highlighted to Datuk Bandar the drainage blockage and non-maintenance of the drainage system at Pakan Salak South could be the other factors causing the flash floods.

Datuk Bandar has said DBKL will look into the flash floods problem and work together with Jabatan Pengairan dan Saliran Malaysia to resolve it.

Meanwhile, I will make an appointment to meet up with the officers from Jabatan Pengairan dan Saliran Malaysia to sort the flash floods problem and bring their attention to the Pekan Salak South’s flood victims’ concerns.

Besides the complaint from the Salak South’s flood victims, we have also raised several more complaints that exist within the area of Seputeh constituency to Datuk Bandar Kuala Lumpur.

Teresa, quite frankly, KL is being neglected because it has an electorate comprised of diehard opposition voters.
KL is in fact one big stinking rubbish dump.
And complaining will not be of much use.
Perhaps that’s their way of getting back at the voters.
I understand that there is a law to ensure that KL must be run by UMNO/BN no matter how many MP seats are won by the opposition.
In fact, the opposition almost completely swept away the BN in the last 2008 GE, winning 10 out of the 11 seats.
That’s why it’s all the more important that PR must take Putrajaya in the coming GE and stop all this nonsense.

Teresa, it’s time, long past time, that you make Kuala Lumpurians aware that many of their problems are caused by a recalcitrant DBKL.
They caused the problems and the residents will be thinking that PR MPs are not doing their work.
So, action must be taken by ALL PR politicians in KL to familiarise them with the true situation instead of PR acting as their reluctant fall guy.
