Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim and I visited GM Klang on 11th June 2012 to witness the signing of the MOU and tenancy agreement between Generic Merchandise (GM) and their vendors. In Tan Sri’s opening address he told the crowd that GM Klang should work towards being a Southeast Asia regional hub for wholesalers. “We should repackage the items suiting the customers needs, but not because of wanting to conceal the product but to give added value,” he said.
After the signing ceremony Tan Sri and I were accompanied by Dato’ Lim Seng Kok, the Group Managing Director of GM Group, to walkabout the pavilions. Currently GM Klang has 5 pavilions offering a variety of products and they are on their way in building a seven-storey mall which would give a chance to many more wholesalers to market their products to the region.
Congratulations to GM Klang for having such far sighted vision in making Selangor a regional hub for wholesalers and ultimately increasing the economic growth in Selangor. I wish them all the best in their future undertakings.
