Opening Ceremony of Parliament sitting at Dataran Parliament by the DYMM Seri Paduka Agong.
Today is the opening of parliament sitting by the King. In the past, I used to wear baju kebaya to the Parliament as requested by the Parliament. However, today I decided to have a change and wear the No: 1 Dress which I have been wearing for the opening ceremony of Selangor State Assembly sitting for the past two years.
When I got out of the car, some of the parliament officers greeted me and said that this is the first time they’ve seen me wearing this dress code. After taking a second look, they then said I’m wearing the Selangor state assemblyman costume. They pointed to the Selangor crest and the headgear which has the Selangor crest. But they said it’s ok, that I look great.
When I stepped into the gallery, immediately, some of the UMNO MPs like the naughty boy in Parliament, MP for Sri Gading greeted me. I purposely sat next to the wife of Sri Gading. He and the former Minister of Home Affairs Syed Hamid were sharp enough to point out to me that I was wearing the Selangor official suit. I smiled at them. :-))
After the ceremony at the Dataran Parliament, all of us entered into the chamber of the Dewan Rakyat. I saw Nazri at the front row at the opposite side of the dewan. Then Kulasegaran, MP for Ipoh Barat who sat in front of me asked Nazri whether he is the architect for the MPs that jumped ship. Nazri laughed loudly. I then called him “arkitek lompat parti” and took out my camera to take his pix. He immediately stretched his 2 arms, as though he welcomes us to join BN.
Look at the gesture of Nazri. Is he “arkitek lompat parti”??
The senators of Pakatan Rakyat from Penang and Selangor were sitting together at the Dewan Rakyat to listen to the opening speech of Seri Paduka Agong. On my left is Tunku Aziz from DAP.
Tian Chua told Tan Sri Khalid that I wore the Selangor No:1 Dress to the opening of Parliament.
After that, DYMM Agong entered into the Parliament. He walked in a normal manner. Looks like the King has recovered from his knee surgery.
The King and Queen walked into the Lower House.
PM Najib, Muhyiddin, Ong Tee Keat and Koh Tsu Koon stood up when Agong entered into the house. This the most powerful bench in the house.
Usually we have a “meet the king” session where we bow and kiss his hands to say goodbye at the end of the tea reception. It was cancelled maybe because the Parliament secretariat doesn’t want the King to stand for so long.
Because of the few katak who “lompat” recently, they have adjusted some of our sitting positions. I’m glad that my seat remains the same. However, Nurul Izzah who used to sit behind me has been shifted to another row and replaced by Abdullah Sani, MP for Kuala Langat. The shifting is due to the shift of position of Zahrain. I hope that there will be no more readjusting of seating positions, meaning no more “frogs” that jump ship from Pakatan Rakyat.
There are a lot of issues to be brought up in this parliament sitting. I foresee this will be a Parliament sitting session that will be full of excitement and action.
My long time friend in MCA Liow Tiong Lai. Will he be the future President of MCA?
Finally I met with Jamaluddin Jarjis, MP for Rompin and Ambassador of Malaysia to the United States. I have asked a Parliament question this time on the criteria of selecting the ambassador to United States and how can he play the role of both MP and ambassador of Malaysia to US? Let’s see how the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will reply me :-))
Ambassador of Sweden (left) and Liew Chin Tong (MP for Bukit Bendera). When I first became MP, Liew was my assistant at my service centre for a year.
the Swedish ambassador looks hot. say how many of OUR ambassadors are women?
Liow the new MCA President? if he wanna be tat he should have rejected the Minister of Health post for political health reasons (physically the previous one was great, put me to shame)
Nazri’s posture looks better than Badawi’s smiling face as VMY posters. No one could say the old mascot, that Orang Utan, would be missed
Unfortunately a lot of time in Parliament is wasted, Zaharin talked sooooo much about his obsession with Anwar. WHO was he trying to please? Did he bring the voices of his voters to the august house?
Sadly, democracy in that part of Malaysia has been taken away from the tax payers there
