Today I was brought by a few friends from Taman Desa Residents’ Association to an urban organic farm named “Cyber FarmUr” in Cyberjaya.
We were greeted by the landowner Mr Benjamin Ong, Group MD of Prima Avenue. The farm is located in an empty land next to his property.
He explained the way to plant each and every type of vegetables and plants to me. I was so surprised to see vegetables can be planted in organic manner and grow so well in the farm surrounded by high rises.
Benjamin even rears chickens, goats, turkey and ducks in the farm. At the end of the visit, he gave me fresh chicken eggs, corns and okra to us.
I told him I plant vegetables in pots in the small balcony of my condominium unit, he gave me some vegetable seeds for me.
It was a memorable visit for me and my friends. I hope to see more empty land in Federal Territories can be used for planting and farming.
Such farm will allow urban folks to learn about farming, it can also supply vegetables for the neighbourhood.
