Rocket girl meets Rocketmen

Posted on Thursday, 12-07-2007Tuesday, 17-07-2007 by Teresa

Ihave the chance to meet with two Malaysian astronauts two weeks ago at the Parliament lounge, i.e. Dr Sheikh Muszaphar and Faiz Khaleed. They were brought in by who has hardly came to Parliament. He traveled to many parts of the world most of the time. This is the second time he brought the two astronauts to the Parliament and he is very proud of them.

When I saw them sitting at the MPs Lounge chit-chatting with a few BN MP I went to them and introduce myself , I said it in front of other UMNO MPs that both of them are the Rocket Men, because they have to operate in the Rocket. I also told them that the only way to go into heaven is through Rocket :- )

The astronauts told me that they can access the internet while they are the Rocket or in the spacesrations. TatlsˇŻs interesting! So, I told them to visit myblog and send me email when they are ored. I also told the BN MPs that we should fight for their voting rights because they are denied of voting when they are traveling in the space : – ) ?The UMNO MP for Bera said they willsurely vote for BN because their votes will be considered as postal votes
and most postal votes are for BN. ?

I then took photo with two of them and other BN guys. From left to right: Dr Sheikh Muszaphar (astronaut), Datuk G. Palanivel,Yours Truly, Datuk Ismail Sabri (MP for Bera), Shabery Cheek (Parliamentary Secretary to Foreign Affairs Ministry), Faiz Khaleed (astronaut).

I guess this meeting will help the development of science and technology in Malaysia. Our educational system need a overhaul. Why can’t we excel in science and technology? The change of teaching science and math in English is not going to help. It is just a easy way out for our educational failure. I remember when the education system changed from English to Bahasa Malaysia. They worked extremely hard to create Malay’s word for all those scientific terms. Now, the effort turn to zero because one man, Tun Mahathir, one day wake up and decide to change the teaching medium (because all those Malay graduates’ English is not good enough to find jobs in the private sector and the public sector is full). There will be high price to be paid by this over-night re-engineering.
