I was in the Bersih 5 rally for the whole day. I was unable to post anything on my fb like many of you as I was tired and busy last night.
I must say I was very impressed with the whole Bersih 5 rally. Thousands of people came out despite a month-long threats of violence and bloodshed by the UMNO-linked red shirts guys and also the police arrest. I was very encouraged by the support of the people to this rally.
I must commend the Bersih committeee for the last minute change of the ceramah venue from Dataran Merdeka to KLCC. The Ampang road before KLCC building is much better than Dataran Merdeka to have ceramah.
I was so surprised that the Bersih participants responded so fast and got to KLCC by LRT or by walking. I felt all of us were like water. When water met blockade, it disperse into small streams and flow to the pond. This was what happened in the Bersih 5 rally.
The BN leaders and its controlled media laughed at the so-called reduced-turnout in the rally yesterday. Frankly, I found the Bersih 5 rally has equally good turnout compare to the Bersih 4 rally. I disagree with the 40k turnout quoted in the Malaysiakini report. I believe the turnout is definitely higher than this. Besides, the crowd in KLCC is much more multiracial compared to Bersih 4.
As the rally is over now, it is time for the Pakatan Harapan political parties and the civil societies to fight for Maria Chin and those who have been arrested and detained by the police. There is a greater battle ahead of us from now on ………
