KUALA LUMPUR: Former Cabinet minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim has given his statement to the police over his “crooked” tweet that was deemed seditious.
At about 11am on Wednesday, Zaid together with lawyer Gobind Singh Deo, as well as former Bersih 2.0 co-chairman Datuk S. Ambiga and a few opposition MPs, walked into the Bukit Aman police headquarters.
He and his entourage came out an hour later and was met by members of the media.
“For the time being, we will wait for the results of the investigations. It is being investigated under the Sedition and Communications and Multimedia Acts,” said Zaid.
Soon after, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar tweeted that the police would summon Zaid to record his statement.
On another matter, Zaid confirmed his attendance for Saturday’s Bersih rally.
“Kita nak bersihkan segala yang kotor (We want to clean all that is dirty),” said Zaid.
He also said that the Red Shirts were a nuisance.
“We don’t need a group like that,” Zaid added.
