Today the Save Malaysia campaign committee and Tun Mahathir announced the number of copies of signed Citizen’s Declaration collected from all parts of the country since its launch on March 4 this year.
The number of copies collected is more than I expected, it is 1.27million. Out of this figure, 1,071,997 copies were received online, 200,000 are the copies the committee members/organizations collected throughout the country.
Collecting signatures is an exercise that requires humility and patience. In other words, one has to be bold and patient to explain and ask members of public to endorse the Citizen’s Declaration.
I personally have led my staffs and party members to public places to collect signatures for the past one month, and the DAP Seputeh managed to collect 10,100 copies. The other hardworking committee members who have sacrificed their time and efforts to collect signatures at different night markets are Ambiga, Maria Chin, Khairuddin, GKCM and others.
Although there were media which painted a gloomy picture on Save Malaysia campaign which objectives are to ask Najib to step down and to reform institutions in Malaysia, I am glad we have proven the critics wrong by showing the 1.27 million signatures (which have been verified) that we collected in two months time. It is a strong message for the Prime Minister. Time for him to step down and to save Malaysia.
The signature campaign is still going on. Please get more people to sign on it if they have not done so 🙂
