Does the KL Mayor think he is an IGP or a Home Minister?

Posted on Thursday, 26-04-2012 by Teresa

Press Statement by Teresa Kok, Member of Parliament for Seputeh and

DAP National Organising Secretary, Kuala Lumpur – 26 April 2012.

I am appalled by the warning made by Tan Sri Fuad Ahmad Ismail, mayor of Kuala Lumpur, to Bersih that the participants will face the music if they gather at Dataran Merdeka on April 28, 2012.

As the Prime Minister, Home Minister and even IGP have sort of given the nod to the peaceful rally on 28 April 2012, by Bersih and Himpunan Hijau, what’s the rationale of Fuad Ahmad to deter Bersih from gathering at Dataran Merdeka? Is he trying to show to his big masters in the federal government, i.e. Najib and Hishamuddin, that he is a mayor with power in Kuala Lumpur and that he dares to clamp down peaceful assemblies even when the federal government is hesitant to offend the crowd? Or is he trying to ‘sabotage’ the ‘lenient attitude’ of BN government to the rakyat who pursues electoral reforms and peaceful assemblies prior to the General Election?

We have observed that the police and federal government leaders have shown their tolerance to people who want to have peaceful assemblies in the past few months. However, one might wonder whether Najib and Hishamuddin are trying to use the mayor of KL, Fuad, as their representative or ‘puppet’ to stop this peaceful assembly of the rakyat.

As Kuala Lumpur is under the control of the federal government, we would like to urge BN leaders to take a stand on whether Fuad’s statement represents the stand of the federal government, or if in fact Fuad made this statement on his own as a sign of disobedience to his big masters in the government.

If Fuad’s statement doesn’t represent the stand of the federal government, then we would like to urge the Prime Minister or the Home Minister to openly reprimand him for his foolish statement that has angered the public.

Surely you don’t really believe that the P.M., the Home Minister and the IGP have given the nod for Bersih 3 ? They are just keeping quite about the whole issue and are really the ones behind the scene making the decision. They are keeping themselves quite just because of the coming GE and do not want to be seen that nothing has changed but in reality nothing has changed.
Just look around you nothing has changed, except this time round their lackey, the mayor, is being used instead to impede the protest. One word from either the P.M. or the Home Minster would have the mayor behaving like pussy cat that he is and like a true lackey, that he is. On the eleventh hour the P.M. will come out to pretend to be the good guy and thus showing to the world that he has indeed transformed, all he is interested is to hang on to be the P.M.. Just you wait and see. Can the leopard change its spots ?
We all know the tricks used by the deceitful and corrupted Umno scumbags and parasites long ago. And the only way to stop these charades from going on is to vote them out Putrajaya in the coming GE once and for all times. Enough is enough and don’t be fooled by their inactions on the matter.

Whatever the sandiwara plays out to be, be always prepared for uninvited disruptions as shown lately and culminating to a crescendo as GE13 approaches.May god protect the rakyat involved in the peaceful sit-in this saturday.

the mayor is doing the right thing. it is the opposition who supports the demostrators who are ignoring the law under pretext of human rights. human rights can only be practised if you respect the law.

This mayor is now the bad guy.
He’s caught between a rock and a hard place.
    He’s the so-called sacrificial lamb.
    Or rather bull!!
For him, it’s do also die!
    Don’t do also die!
    Serve these bastards right!!!
When the public crucify this henchman, don’t forget to do the same to his masters who are behind the scenes pulling the strings!!!
They are all the same kettle of fish!!!!
The public must look at everything with a microscope so that nothing escapes their attention.

i am surprised by your mention that the PM,HM +IGP hs been lenient, exercised tolerance although i noted those apostrophes. i agree with the first comment. he is spot on and i dont think further comment from me is necessary.

all i can add is that, the manner of how the government handles this from the pretentious top rank guys (PM,HM,IGP) right to the mayor or the officers is a typical manner one faces when they deal with government offices for so many years. taichi is the word. pushing things around but with an already set and presumed answer/decision. they play the good guy bad guy drama and will make sure their own agenda is fulfilled at the end……..err..u get me?

This bum is not fit to be a mayor in the first place. He is there because he is one of those Umnoputras who cheat and milk the rakyat wealth.
He did not act like IGP, more like a “PIG” i must say.
