Not too long ago, Kinrara state assemblyman Dr Kow Cheong Wei smelt a rat over the increasing presence of DAP’s Teresa Kok in his area.
As Chinese New Year approached, the cat was out of the bag — Teresa Kok was planning to contest the Kinrara state seat and had changed the address on her MyKad to one in the constituency.
With Kok’s intention made clear, Kow has now become the underdog.
“The most important thing is to vote for the person who knows the area well and what the people want. I have fulfilled my promises, so it’s up to the voters to decide,” the MCA’s Kow said.
Kok retorted: “I don’t deny that Kow is hardworking, but I think the constituents need someone who will work extra hard to resolve issues such as congestion and overdevelopment.”
“There is no problem. The seat is adjacent to Seputeh.
“I think of it as an extension in the size of my Seputeh constituency.”
Kok sees the lack of Chinese schools in Seputeh as the single biggest problem. The constituency has 76,891 voters — Malays (5.38 per cent), Chinese (88.52 per cent), Indians (5.49 per cent) and others (0.23 per cent)
The Seputeh seat is contested by the MCA and to date, there is no indication of who the candidate is.
Kok declined to speculate, preferring to wait for Barisan Nasional to announce its candidate.
As an MP, Kok has shown a remarkable ability to attract attention to herself.
Her latest effort, a Chinese New Year card, created a stir. The card has a picture of her on the cover and inside, the recipient is greeted by Kok in five snappy outfits.
She said the cards were posted to hundreds of people and many said she looked good in the outfits.
“People always say I dress nicely. I always get compliments,” said Kok, in obvious reference to a report which alluded to her poor dress sense.
Finally an angel has arrived. You will be the greatest saviour to the community here.
I think this strategy to have the same candidate for MP and ADUN works well for DAP where it lack the resources for good candidates.
Btw,you look elegant in your CNY dress. Atleast you took the effort to look young and vibrant unlike PJ Utara MP’s dressing makes her looks old.
the NST shows again the biase and hollow tone of reporting.
“Not too long ago, Kinrara state assemblyman Dr Kow Cheong Wei smelt a rat over the increasing presence of DAP’s Teresa Kok in his area”
– implying Miss Kok is trespassing or silently plotting something
“As an MP, Kok has shown a remarkable ability to attract attention to herself.”
– implying Miss Kok always try to attract attention by whatever means
Compared to Sin Chew Jit Poh. They did a report on the Seputeh area a week or 2 ago. They reported on the various candidates from all parties and feature interviews with Seputeh residents asking feedback on Miss Kok’s performance.
The reporting of Sin Chew is superior, more intelligent and fair. NST is wasting the lives of trees.
Thank you for coming to Kinrara!!!

the access road to Sri Manja, last election promised that the road will be available within a week. It has been 4 years, nothing is done… only know how to cause troubles.. furthermore, the jams of Jalan Puchong.. day and night, guess he is taking helicopters to get back home n office eh ?
Hidup DAP!
We Malaysians should have more people’s representatives like you to contest for more than one seats. Times and again, candidates from MCA Seputeh never seemed to learn. First it was a PhD holder whose comment of “I stand and she squats” back-fired. He could have just said “sorry”, and voters might still give him a chance. But no. His arrogance, or rather stupidity (academic excellence and wisdom are different things) eventually gave him a dose of his own medicine. The “tradition” of resorting to uncalled-for sarcasm was given a fuller play when Dr. Sua’s successor made the equally stupid remark “my opponent is an old maid”. He too was shown the exit in the last general election. And now, what about the new candidate fielded by MCA? Old habit dies hard. Again, as if cursed by Male Chauvinist Autism (MCA?), she teased her female counterpart as being a loose woman. No apology from her even when everybody except herself and her team, finds it distasteful.
I have been a devoted MCA for more than 20 years. Shame on you for those who do the opposite in the name of its high ideals.
With due respect, if Carol Chow is not sensitive enough due to her young age, she should go and learn from her mentor YB Dr. Wong Yen Yen, who is a staunch advocate of 弟子规 and a leader who has earned popularity for taking care of women’s interests. Also, Barisan National has put in place the manifesto of Security, Peace, and Progress. Just work along this like any other predecessor who has won the mandate of the people since Independence. The leaders of this country have left behind the legacy of harmony and they have fought hard to maintain the dedicate social balance. Do your campaign in a dignified way. Be a true politician who aspires to serve with a humble heart.
