Dear friends,
Tthe MCA Seputeh chaps criticised me for my inability service to the people alone. I did not bother to rebut them. Just to let them know thef I won with great majority in Seputeh Parliamentary seat and Kinrara state seat, and many voters voted for me because they want the service of the DAP, I hereby present you members of my service team in both Seputeh and Kinrara offices.
However, I still hope that you will only look for me after you have tried to resolve matters yourself. This is because both my offices are always full of complainants. Complaints that come to my office ranging from water/electricity bills are too high, ah long/loan sharks chase after them to clear their debts, application for low cost housing, flood, seeking help to write letters etc.
My assistant Yin Mei Yee resigned after working in my Seputeh office for about 3 years. I believe one of the main reasons of her departure was because of the never-ending work loads and many unreasonable demands of the complainants. However, I managed to recruit a few enthusiastic full-time assistants and some part-time helpers after general elections. Below are my service team members:
This is my service team members in Seputeh office. From left to right: Tee Pei Pei (full-time), Mr Yap (full-time), Emily, Wong Sin Hui (full-time), Ng Yue Kuen, Yin Mei Yee (out-going), Abdullah Chong.
Service team members in Kinrara office. From left to right: Tey Khang Fei (full time), Foo Theik Fatt, Bala (full time), May, Gary Chong (full time), & Vincent Pang (Lawyer).
You’re right!
Malaysians at last (long, long last!) have woken up to the fact that they’d been had by the BN for the past fifty years!
I understand that you won by a very wide margin (36,000?)during the 12th GE.
So, don’t be so put off by the criticisms thrown at you by the MCA. It’s just a matter of sour grapes.
In fact, as far as the BN and especially UMNO, is concerned, they have not learned the lesson of their rejection during that election; they are still going on as before!
Perhaps soon they’ll have nothing to go on with!
Do your best for the folks in your constituencies but let them know that there is a limit to what you can actually do.
Do not wear yourself out trying to do the impossible!
Wow, no Mal ye.ays ah…, ah ya. driver only
Dear Damocles and YB,
Let us ponder a bit and see things in a greater prospective.
Firstly, Malaysia is a kingdom where a Malay monarch reigned the nation for years, it was not UMNO or MCA, DAP or MIC,or any other political parties.
It was because we wanted to run the country ourselves that we had chosen political parties, but mind you in any democratic country any one party with majority votes were always selected to be a leader, but subject to the monarchy rule.
So, now it is DAP’s turn, let us see what are and how really worth DAP as a party is to the rakyat of a multi racial. And remember, we are looking at you because you are now the leader,
Thank You.
Dear YB Teresa,
I am very happy that your centres are well staffed thought greater diversity will be much better.
I have cast my vote in favour of you rather than the MCA chap during PRU 12. Here I like to take this opportunity to remind you that the vote is not for you to assist more folks in issues of utilities bills, debts, writing or cloaked drains. From my personal view, you should work closely with NGOs and get them to help you out in various domestic issues.
My vote is to carry you to the parliament to champion for the oppressed, the sick, to create more business and job opportunities and to raise the well being of all malaysians.
I hope that you will look into more issues that are important to all malaysians and prepare yourself well to push for change.
Hey, what stupid racist nonsense you talk, sao?? It’s up to Teresa herself to hire whom she wants to work for her at her service centre. Why the hell do you only see skin colour, you stupid moron sao?
I recognize you from another posting of yours (can’t remember which blog, though) but I remember your name clearly because you created some discomfort there as well with your shit talk about race.
Better get your act together, asshole.
Errrmmm… since when did DAP service center not open door for Malay?
Anyway… I’m pretty sure the people want to see you more than your assistant… haha~~
I wonder whether I should ROTFLMAO or cry right now.
NOBODY, not a SINGLE successful people is successful because he/she did it alone. All great people are remembered in the history are actually there because they have a great team that supports and complement each other. The bigger and more efficient the team, the greater their success is. Read up about it here: http://www.adam-khoo.com/61/masterminding-your-way-to-success/
If “serving the people alone” is how MCA work for the past 50 years, then this victory to PR isn’t a co-incidence. It’s not about because people only wanted to vote against BN. It’s fate. YB Teresa Kok, I urge that you create a greater team that can work together more efficiently than last time. Answer the MCA’s criticism with results. We will then know who will have the last laugh.
the numerous complains mean 3 things
1) the Malaysia delivery system is faulty.
Unlike first world countries, heck even our humble & tiny & insignificant neighbour below, there is a sense of duty amongst its civil servant. In Malaysia, it seems that it is a miracle that gomen servants can do what they are PAID to do in the first place, with the exception of the passport renewal team. I have to exclude the IRB collection team as I consider them corporate body now.
People are getting the runaround, the excuse of “dia sedang dalam khursus” or whatever.
That is part of cost of doing business and cost of living in Malaysia, promoter of tourism, Malaysia My Home 2 and foreign investment.
2) the Malaysia public also do not exert their sense of citizenship and posture of taxpayer and supporter. They fear dealing with the “system” because they do not understand it, thinking the people behind the desk at a feudal officer or plain fear to voice out as part of our beautiful oriental culture
3) our civil servants are in comfort zone that is too comfortable. No doubt they have to feel secure to go about their jobs but the recruitment, retention, development opportunities, reward and removal procedures must be improved and implemented with sufficient carrot and stick to “motivate” them to do whatever they have been paid to do.
Of all the “lawatan sambil belajar”, they did the first part brilliant. I stop here.
oh another thing. Our health care services is in shambles. Remember the Malay woman who wrote to Mr Lim about the fella who died after waiting to long for an ambulance near Shah Alam – Kelang?
No improvement, no results of investigation, no nothing.
I got the answer for you. Lack lustre attitude of all Malaysians. We are fast in getting onto buffets, rumours, gossip, SMSs, latest DVDs, best discounts on MATTA…but when it comes to saving lives, treating patients, attending to traumas, diagnozing diseases….these things are secondary.
So will the MCA Health Minister do something before his political career progress? Hope you break the curse, Sir. Otherwise, do the final thing right but I do wish you all the best.
Lee Wee Tak, the BN government machinery is in shambles!
Just look at the long, long proposed National Health Insurance Scheme.
It has been in the works for a quarter century (25 years), yes twenty-five years and have been through numerous health ministers and they are still talking about it!!
The terms are shrouded under the OSA.
I’m sure that it’ll never see the light of day. This is but one aspect; I am sure that there are many like it.
The only way to have a better future for all Malaysians is to have a completely new government.
Period.
Dear Sao,
I bet u Malaysia will not progress if wanna stick to the so called Malay monarch or Ketuanan Melayu…
YB Teresa,
Firstly, I suggest that you change your tagline to: “Working effectively for Malaysians”. Working hard everybody can. But it is not enough. We have to work effectively. (Point noted, action taken. Thanks -TK)
I was at your Entrepreneur Park office last Tuesday, briefly exchanged some words with Mr. Yap. I was there to offer myself. I have promised to come back with a proposal.
I am one of those who are sickened by MCA “swell heads”. While they have been intimated by their UMNOputra colleagues, always standing shorter than them, I am impressed by how the DAP MPs take all the insights hurled at them, “fight” these big bullies in the august house of Parliamentarians. You have my respects!
All the bad BN losers have lamented all sorts of unfair statements about PR’s lack of resources and experience to rule the 5 states, etc. They have tried, and will continue to try to create problems. But, I have full confidence that the People will ensure that PR will grow to be stronger. I am sure you guys can rule the country in 5 years’ time!
With honesty and sincerity, we will bring prosperity to the country and happiness to the people! Go after those who have robbed the people and blundered the country’s wealth, the state and national coffers will overflow with the money to fund all projects. Beef up an appraisal system to check and measure performance to improve productivity, and issue walking certificates to the deadwoods. ….
I must commend your courage of planning to woo PRC investors. I suggest YB to do an in depth research. Malaysia has been battered by all the corrupted “little Napoleans”. Investors have abandoned this Bolehland in droves. I traveled extensively. Damage is so serious. Malaysia’s image is so bad in the international arena! Govt officials here are not offering assistance to investors and local businessmen alike. They are devils out to prey on these people who can bring wealth to the country! There is an uphill task ahead of us to regain confidence of foreign investors.
Change, we must, to survive against competition among ASEAN member countries, let alone other giants like China and India. We have already lost out to Vietnam, the Philippines, and now Kampuchea and Indonesia!
Change, we must, return to the basics – self sufficiency of agri produces. The BN government may have failed shamefully in all areas, however, it must be “commended” for having nurtured a generation of lazy, sub-standard, non-productive, lack of ethics workforce!
Can you imagine a glass of barley costs RM1.20, Chinese tea RM0.50, ….!
We have to start somewhere, to slowly and painfully put the systems back on track. Re-education is most important.
Sorry. typing error. 3rd para should read: … insults hurled ….
Dear YB,
You no longer have to pay attention to what MCA says. Since they have lose so badly in this election, they ‘mesti cari anda’ and find fault. To say the least, I find what PR is doing since the election is much, much more than what MCA have done since it was founded. I sincerely hope that they can be less politiking within PR and more focus on building an unparalled coalition that brings everlasting benefits to all Malaysians. I wish each and every member of your new service teams will strive to deliver their service with the greatest passion and dedication so that MCA can consider closing shop earlier.
its not ketuanan melayu.
its ketuanan rakyat.
but i guess the malay representative and advisor does not matter in a ‘chinese’ constituency.
sounds familiar with some other political party….
damocles
my family had a long, painful and disgraceful episode with the malaysia medical service that is too painful for me to mention.
that is why we Malaysians whould stop asking MPs to look at longkang, reduce samans, get into uni etc those personal stuff and look at the BIG picture, like overhauling this life threatening medical service of Malaysia!
and stop wasting time on racist remark!!!!!!!
Mr lee wee tak,
Though i agree with your 3 points why YB TK receives lots of complaint, i would like to offer additional reasons..
1. Yes poor delivery from public servants.. why?
Ever heard of the term they use? “penyapu baru”?
Every new recruited public servant works very hard in the beginning with big hopes his efforts will be recognised. Hmmm I know becos I used to be one.
First thing the new recruit notice will be the snicker from his older colleaques… New broom ,,, they say.
Then maybe after one year, this recruit will begin to lose his enthusiasm. In public, the harder you work, the more work will be dumped on you. Salary remains almost stagnant. fixed rm 60 increment per year. While you work hard, other shoe shiners get the credit.
Then new recruit gets married, financial commitment increased, salary cannot match up, very little chance for promotion especially if you are not an UMNOputra.
The handful of UMNOputras get promoted faster than the helicopter rises from the ground. This guy remains at the bottom rung.
So, sooner or later, unless he can resign and get a better job outside of public service, the other thing this guy will do is participate in corruption, or moonshine other bizness outside while reporting to duty in public department. In both cases, quality of service go down the drain.
This is the legacy of BN administration. See recently, the fact that Badawa relented to MTUC and Cuepacs demand to remove the existing appraisal system by PSD, what woz that called? SSB? and the exams they have to sit, which are all crap and bullshit anyway.. shows that BN does not know how to manage a fair and progressive system in public service…
The NEP applied in public office contributed greatly to the ROT.
Your point 2, Cant argue here.
Point 3. Public servants in confort zone…
I agree with U but only when applied to the UMNOputras and some malay public servants..
I can assure you, those non-umnoputras in public service are all suffering, and would get out if they know how to get alternative jobs…
Thats why, check out all govt departments and see what race are holding the majority of the post from the top to the bottom, and that will prove my point.
SO.. What we hope is with DAP as strong partner in the new government, all the BN policy in public service SHALL be reviewed and improved further, systems improved and all races in malaysia represented in all levels of govt administration.
As you can see at present, the number of non UMNOputra holding the top job in Malaysiabolehland is almost.. ZERO !!!
YB Teresa sure knows this for the last 30 years, so we hope she and her colleagues can now bring this up in parliament without facing the so-called sensitive racial issue and that kind of crap from the Bullshit BN and umno… thanks…
YB,
why no malays in your team? I’m not racist but at least you may consider to have malays to assist you.
Thanks…
BTW, i only have one office and I am zonked by 6 pm….
YB TK juggles between 2 office and exco office and meetings…even night time also official duty…. thats a miracle man….
Dear Teresa
I hope you will leave all the mundane problems at the hands of your capable Service Team. I hope you can concentrate on more pressing issues, namely policy matters. You are better suited for MACRO issues and not MICRO issues. You are the champion of the People!!!
Mr/Miss/Madam/Tan sri/Datuk/uncle/auntie Sabahfan,
er I dun know how to address you so I tembak so please delete the wrong ones.Sorry ;-P
Thanks for the insight. I guess you really suffered and it is a thankless environment to work in. Enthusiasm dies and we have zombies toeing the line. I hope your luck will change.
Tan Sri Sidek is appointed as the official fire fighter to stir up a bit of initiative here and there but I have to say well done to the imigration department as they can issue passports within one hour. It is not too much about system, hardware, software etc but it is about HEART!
We need a cultural revolusion. We need to have big stick and carrot and fair implementation. We should see firing of civil servants who have committed serious offence and reprimand for people who are negligent (but hell, even the High Court says Majlis Perbandaran Ampang Jaya is not guilty about the tragedy in Bukit Antarabangsa)
I would be interested and concerned about the level of civil servants in the states controlled by Pakatan Rakyat as they might have political alligence affecting their mood in office.
We also need the ACA to nick corruption. Today the newspaper carry a nice report about BPR wanting to be like their Hong Kong counter part. I don’t know how to react – to admire their ambition, to bristle at the propaganda attempt, to marvel at their out of the box thinking, or be optimistic about their willingness to go for it.
Ever since the PM flipperty flopped about his romance and the polling date, I can trouble believing him
I am happy to be wrong about him
worry, I “would” be happy to be wrong with him
arghhh….!!!!!!!!!
I WOULD BE HAPPY TO BE WRONG ABOUT HIM!
Thanks Mr Lee WT,
And thanks to Teresa too, I think this site provides a nice place for fruitful discussions, unlike those UMNO blogs that only brings mirth and laughter, he he he
Call me Old man from the land below the wind, a great fan of Teresa…
I am just about to retire with lots of stories about public service. Former union president too so i can tell lots of crap what Malasian management do and their “I am the previleged boss, i can do anything i like” attitude.
As i said, the scheme of service in public sector really needs to be revamp altogether. First, all the PSD policy makers should all be sacked. They have outlived their usefulness. All they do is implement the NEP to suit the umnoputras. No arguments about that.
Next the BN machinery must be removed altogether, we need a totally new government with sincere multiracial policy, where the best in the country should be rewarded, not just the umnoputra.
Whichever race that is behind, thats their bad luck, they had 50 years to make up. If NEP did not succeed to uplift any poor citizens, then all of UMNOs fund should now be used to help them, not our taxes anymore. And since UMNO are still living in their dark ages, the only way is to remove them out from circulation, just retire them all.
Take for example, when the Malay sports personality achieve a mediocre result, ha the whole BN would party, but when our NICOL DAVID becomes world number one, she still does not seems to get any recognition as if the Malaysian govt treat her as a non citizen. Perhaps if she should slice a bit of her “U know what” then suddenly she will be welcomed with a kompang at the airport.
See, these kind of things hardly make me proud to be a citizen if under the BN rule. The day BN is thrown away for good, I will fly all the flags of malaysia on my roof.
hip hip hoooray
Darn Sabahfan, you must be up around 1am! Go back to sleep. I logged on after the Man Utd vs Blackburn match. What’s your excuse. Go back to sleep, gramps. (at least now I know to address you)
🙂
Yep, as a gramp, i dont need much sleep, always sleep from 3 to 630 am
sweat dream granpa, sweat dreams.
someone has repeatedly mentioned that I do not hire non-Chinese staff or no Malay staff in my service center.
The problem is, majority or 99% of the complainants to my Seputeh office are Chinese, many of them are the poor and uneducated lot where they came to me to ask me to help them to fill up application forms for low cost flats or ask us to explain some government or legal documents to them. They always face problems when they go to DBKL or other government agencies as many of them can’t understand or converse in Malay language.
So, if I hire a Malay staff where they find difficult to communicate, then I will only make my service center like another government agencies where the poor find difficulties to communicate with us. Isn’t that very unnecessary or inconvenient?
However, I can hire an Indian guy in my Kinrara office as there are a number of Indians staying in Puchong where my Indian staff can handle their problems.
When it comes to hiring staffs, we need to emphasise on practicality, skin colour or race is not the issue, especially in the case of service center.
RIGHT ON TS,
Your explanation should be satisfactory to all those who are critical of your staff.
It is the needs that matters…not the skin color..
SUKUNG PENUH YB… !!!!!!
Salam Sejahtera kpd YB Teresa Kok (YB TK) dan kpd para pembaca semua. Assalamu’alaikum w.b.t. kpd para pembaca yg Muslim.
Pertama sekali, selamat meneruskan tugas untuk rakyat kpd YB TK dan saya doakan YB TK berjaya mengenengahkan permasalahan rakyat di Dewan Rakyat kelak! Good Luck YB! You are my IRON LADY in DAP besides YB Fong Po Kuan (MP of Batu Gajah). Oh yes, among DAP’s women representatives, I ‘admire’ a lot to both of you!
Selamat bertemu kembali kepada ‘uncle’ Sabahfan dan lee wee tak (Mr. or Ms. or Mrs.?
(hogs on 18 Apr 2008 (4 days ago) at 13: 29.46
Dear Sao,
I bet u Malaysia will not progress if wanna stick to the so called Malay monarch or Ketuanan Melayu…)
So, I HOPE YOU BETTER THINK FIRST BEFORE YOU WRITE SOMETHING! Harap maklum). Enough said. PLEASE BE CAREFUL NEXT TIME, WILL YOU? THANKS A LOT.
Long Live Pakatan Rakyat!
Esplanation accepted,thanks.
At first I too wonder why no Malay.
Don’t want the DAP to be seen as only a Chinese party.
BTW what is the DAP doing about this point?
As being perceived to be a racially-based party?
Maybe you all should get some prominent Malay personalities to be vice-president or co-chairman or something to raise some profile.
Partly agree with your explanation YB…
Remember, in your constituency there’s also a malay population.. they also have problems to be solved… and they are also part of your voters..
I’m a malay.. me and whole of my family vote for DAP on PRU12.. not even that.. we secretly do some campaign for the opposition in your constituency without you or your team knows about it.. bcoz most of my family are a government servant… We treat DAP as a multiracial party not a chinese base party. We believe the slogan “JUST CHANGE”… The opposition wins big bcoz most of us especially malays hate UMNO/BN… We want change… We can accept chinese to be leader.. not bcoz they are chinese but bcoz they are Malaysian citizens.. this is what towards the changes that we want..
I quote YODA says “Don’t want the DAP to be seen as only a Chinese party”… that is what I mean you need to have malays in your team.. when there’s multi racial in your team, I believe all rakyat especially in your constituency disregard race will give their thumbs up for you as their representative.. this is your role to put all races together… let us all understand and help each other… let the makcik-makcik and pakcik-pakcik put their highest respect to non malay leaders… not only to become champion for only one race.. be a real Rakyat Malaysia…
JUST CHANGE!!!
I am with you on this, musyu99.
YB, this is not at you alone. The Malays like musyu99 have gone through a big change in mindset to vote for DAP so DAP must change to. What’s Mr Lim senior has to say about this.
Where’s Ahmad Noh? How’s he doing?
I believe the service centre people speaks malay too so they can still entertain malay people. If more malay people visit your centre, later you may find it practical to get some malay representation. At the end of the day, a good person is a good person regardless of race. If DAP do help out malays, it can still be preceived as a multu-racial party, right?
I hope saudara musyu99 & friends plus YB Kok can organise some event/meeting to sound off any issues.
Wow! must have cost you a bomb every month just to maintain both office let along going through all the complaint including some ridiculous ones. City folks are really demanding.
Compare with those YB/MP from the rural area with a population of just several thousand, I hardly heard of their constituency having a personal service centre, just party representative office.
One advice for would be politician, go to the rural area where folks are less demanding and life as a elected representative is gonna be easy!!!. Enjoy the perk minus the work.
