Wendy’s Sad Story (Part 2)

Posted on Saturday, 08-12-2007Monday, 10-12-2007 by Teresa

I am pleased with the result of the DNA test for baby boy Sow Zhi Kian as it proves the words of the mother, , that Sow Kien Siong is not the biological father of the child.

The families of the couple, Sow and Lim, would not have gone into a public feud if Michael Chong had handled the case in an objective manner like listening out Wendy Lim, and getting the DNA test done right from the start. The reason Lim and her family came to me was because she felt that she has not been treated fairly by Michael Chong.

Michael Chong has made glaring mistakes in handling the case, i.e.:

1) He should not have asked Lim to sign an ‘agreement’ allowing Sow to visit her baby twice in a month. This is because Lim is only 16 years old and she is a minor.

Clause 11 of the Contracts Act says that “every person is competent to contract who is of the age of majority according to the law to which he is subject, and who is of sound mind, and is not disqualified from contracting by any law to which he is subject.” In the Age of Majority Act, the age of majority is 18 years old.

This means the agreement signed by Lim and endorsed by Michael Chong is null and void.

Michael Chong is a Justice of the Peace. He should have known the law before he endorsed an agreement.

Section 99 (5) of Subordinate Courts Act 1948 says: A Justice of the Peace whilst exercising his powers or performing his duties as such shall be deemed to be a public servant within the meaning of the Penal Code ……

According to clause 166 of the Penal Code, a public servant disobeying a direction of the law can be punished and fine too.

2) Michael Chong should not have listened to the statement of Sow Kien Siong and his family that the aunt and uncle of Wendy Lim were suspected to have been involved in selling of babies. He himself has repeated this statement in his press conference too. This is an act of defamation. It is very unprofessional for Michael Chong to openly accuse someone on matters that he’s not familiar with. Michael Chong has just about destroyed the reputation of Wendy Lim’s aunt and uncle who were trying to lend her a helping hand.

Lim’s aunt and uncle are demanding Michael Chong apologise to them or they will file a defamation suit against him, Sow Kien Siong and his family.

Michael Chong has accused me of separating the couple and had handled the case in an unprofessional manner. The DNA results proves that it is Michael Chong who has handled the case in an unprofessional manner.

I urge Michael Chong can learn to be more tactful and careful in handling future family matters, so that no other family needs to be drag through the mud in ugly public fights.

Statement of Wendy Lim on 8th December 2007

1. I am very happy with the DNA test results of my son Sow Zhi Kian, because the result proves my statement to my father, the family of my ‘husband’ Sow Kien Siong and his family, JP Datuk Michael Chong and media is true.

2. I feel sorry for Sow Kien Siong and his family over what had happened in the past one month. I hope Sow and his family can understand that I have never intended to make him as “father of convenient”. I have never intended to marry Sow Kien Siong, but I was forced by my father to do so. I have told Sow Kien Siong and his mother right from the start that he is not the father of my baby, but they never took my word seriously.

3. I hope Sow Kien Siong and his family can accept the result of DNA test and don’t fight with me over the custody of my child, and don’t disturb me anymore.

4. I regret my grandfather has openly disowned me after news of the incident appeared in the press. However, I still treat him as my grandfather. I feel very sad that both my grandfather and my father refused to believe ime and kept wanting me to go back to Sow Kien Siong’s family. They have refused to listen to my explanation and refused to understand my feelings. I hope they can support me and understand me now.

5. I wish to thank all who have supported me and helped me when I was in trouble, especially my mother, my aunt and uncle, Malaysia Chemistry Department and YB Teresa Kok. Without their help it would have been hard for me to turn over a new leaf

6. I admit that the reason of me falling into wrong relationships was because I have been ignorant about love and boy-girl relationships.

7. My aspiration now is to learn new life skills so that I can earn a living and raise my child, and I wish to have a peaceful life. I shall learn from the mistakes of my past and won’t repeat it anymore. I have decided that I shall not fall into any intimate relationship before I reach the age of 21.

So who then is the baby’s father? Will the baby continue to carry the “Sow” family name? Will the baby be given a new name?

Michael Chong is getting involved into too many matters for which he is not qualified. He seems to be getting too big for his shoes. He looks for “fame” and “glory”, that he has “successfully” solved this and that case when he has not. It is time for him to reassess his function and position, if any. Otherwise he will be creating more problems.

    Way to go, Sassy MP.

cute baby. I hope the real dad can look at himself in the mirror and say, “what’s my share of responsibility?”

as a man, you just can’t leave the girl who loved you in the lurch just like that. not cool, not classy.

the thing now is for the young lady to move forward like she said. hope things will turn out ok for the mom and son.

so YB, are you having a new god son?

    Ms Teresa,

I had read the news article in your blog and The ChinaPress on sunday regarding Michael Chong and his misconducts.

If Michael Chong really had violated clause 166 of the Penal Code, have you lodge any police report so police can lauch the investigation and charge Michael Chong to court? This is our best chance to whack him back.

Besides that,i suggest you make a complaint on Michael Chong misconducts to Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah. Since his Datukship and Justice of the Peace were given by Sultan of Selangor,i believe Sultan maybe able to “control” and advise Michael Chong to behave himself, just like how Sultan advised Datuk Zakaria. Furthermore,in the ChinaPress news article on last sunday Sultan of Selangor had promised to investigate any misconduct if anyone make a complaint to him.

You are our only hope to defeat this ruthless Michael Chong. May God bless you!
