I went to Cameron Highlands on 25th April. I found it interesting to see the different situations between Cameron Highlands and we below the hill.
When I reached Tanahrata, I saw some Kayveas‘ big bill boards in the town centre. I also saw a number of colourful party flags along the road, namely: BN, PAS, PSM and Pakatan Harapan. Thsee flags tell us that there are going to be multi-corner fights in Cameron Highlands.
I have officiated the opening of the election centre in Cameron Highlands, after that our PH Parliamentary candidate Manogaran took his team to visit the Orang Asli.
Manogaran and his family have been working very hard in Cameron Highlands in the last few years. He lost by 462 votes.
The Tanahrata DUN candidate is Chiong Yoke Kong, our Chinese Rocket editor, a young and talented guy.
Unlike other constituencies, Chiong did not organise ceramah that day as many farmers are fearful to come out for ceramah after Ops Gading. These farmers have been warned by MCA/BN that they should vote for BN in this elections or another Ops Gading which will destroy their crops and land will be carried out by the authority. Therefore these voters dare not express their support to the DAP. I also heard that these farmers have to pay bribe to authority to prevent action being taken against them.
Sad to hear this story from my colleague. Cameron Highlands is a nice place. The only way to restore the rights of the farmers and to resolve their land matters is to let PH to be the federal and state government.
