Today is a sad day for me as I lost a close friend and a comrade, Kerk Kim Hock. He has passed away in today afternoon.
Kerk was the former secretary-general of DAP and the former MP for Kota Melaka and Ipoh Timor. He quit politics after he lost in the 2004 General Elections.
He has been fighting against colon cancer since 2002. However his cancer relapsed last year.
I communicated with Kerk more frequently after his cancer disease relapsed. He is one of my friends whom I used to send morning greetings.
Kerk is an intelligent person who has acute political sense and wisdom. He used to share his observations and thoughts on political issues and development with me privately as an observer. His views are always valuable and thought provoking to me and my colleagues.
My last communication with Kerk was on last Saturday before he went into coma after his second surgery. Since then, I miss him in the morning when I send out morning greetings to friends. I could not send greetings to him from now on.
Kerk has suffered enough in his battle against cancer. I pray that he will be rest in peace with his Maker in the paradise now.
