On Merdeka Day morning, Gobind Singh and I attended a community programme organised by Tadika Wawasan Melodi at Wawasan Puchong.
I was very impressed by the kindergarten which has more than 100 children of all races.
I saw the children’s colouring of Selangor flags being pasted on the wall of the kindergarten.
The kindergarten children in multi-ethnic costumes performed the song “Saya anak Malaysia” and led the audience to sing along with them. They looked so cute. 🙂
In my speech, I praised the principle of the kindergarten, Mdm Julie Quah for her courage to invite us as I understand there was pressure for a BN rep to be invited instead but she refused to bow to the pressure.
I said “this event is hosted by the kindergarten, the host has the right to invite anyone they like. If the host wanted to invite Rosmah to attend and not to have Gobind and I, I am ok with it and I will use the time to attend other programmes. I should not complain nor intervene.”
I know for Julie to invite me is a “small step” for me, but it is a “big step” for Julie Quah. For a country to change to be better, we must first have many citizens to be bold to make “small steps”, then only we can see “giant steps” take place.
