On 13 June 2011, Teresa Kok led the residents of Bukit OUG condominium in a protest against hill slope development outside DBKL. The steep hill slope beside their condominium had been stripped of the trees and vegetation, and without any public notice at that, leaving the hill slope exposed, risking landslide and endangering the lives of the residents.
After the peaceful protest, Teresa and Bukit OUG Condominiums Action Committee members met with DBKL mayor Ahmad Fuad Ismail in a scheduled meeting. The result of the meeting is that Fuad has promised to get Ikram, an independent environmental assessment organisation, to conduct a check on the slope and the necessary action will be taken according to the law.
Teresa, allow me to digress.
I came across a post today in LKS’s blog, containing the following remark:
Being polite and positive does not mean we are naive,” National Evangelical Christian Fellowship chairman Rev Dr Eu Hong Seng wrote in the umbrella body’s quarterly newsletter published this week. – End of quote
That’s good news!
At long last, the church is showing its mettle!
It is now a force to be reckoned with.
It seems that the people, under the BN government, has to fight tooth and nail to safeguard their wellbeing and safety.
All the talk of being caring and reforming is just bull!!
Give them the boot in the next GE!!!
it seems, they are still clearing up the place part by part, thought it was on hold till they get the final approval from “dbkl”. now, they have partition the surrounding area and clearing the greens slowly. would prefer the project be abolish since not many greens left in this area. leave the green (forest reserved) untouch as it is. moreover, the area is already crowded where parking is always a problem since day one. when come night time and weekend, both lane will become narrower as owners parked their cars inbetween both lane. with another 4 project coming up, it will totally create a bottle neck. hopefully it can be solve. wondering how this so call “forest reserved” were being taken away of the sudden?
