Yesterday, I took part in a business luncheon organised by the Menteri Besar’s Office to brief foreign embassies and foreign business councils in Malaysia on Selangor’s economic stimulus plan. Our goal was to engage them in discussing Selangor as a destination for foreign direct investment.
Seated at the head of the table from left to right: Dato’ Mhd Jabar Ahmad Kembali as CEO of Selangor State Investment Council, myself, Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim, Teng Chang Khim, Dato Dr Hasan Ali.
Many embassies and trade missions came, including Australia, America, Brunei, Korea, Maldives, Morocco, Nigeria, Lesotho, Singapore, Swaziland, Tanzania.
Many issues were brought up. Selangor was complimented on our ability to increase our rice yield and there was a request to learn from us in this area. The issue of crime and public safety was also raised as a factor affecting investment.

Networking to attract investment into Selangor.
Well done!
I hope Selangor Govt. can find a way to improve broadband internet coverage and speed. Having reliable and world class broadband connection is crucial to attract MNCs, promote the tech sector as well as encourage end users to take up broadband to buy or use e-services.
