Good afternoon friends,
The next session of parliament will sit soon, so if you have any questions you want me to ask the government, please drop the questions in the comments. The questions must be short and specific, unlike MACC line of questioning. 😉
When is the government going to step in and stop those racist speakers in BTN courses ? Mere denial of such speeches existence are insulting our intelligence.
Hello YB Teresa Kok,
I have 2 questions which i hope you may be kind enough to take note
1. Vehicle prices in Malaysia, is there any plan to rationalize this at all, we are paying 100-300% more than neighboring countries for imported cars. When will Proton/Perodua/Modenas be allowed to compete in a completely open market, isn’t 27 years way too long for a company to be able to stand on its own
2. Bankrupcy laws in Malaysia, at present a bankrupt has absolutely no chance of getting out of his predicament unless he settles all outstanding loans in full. Singapore has a more lenient law which allows a bankrupt to be solvent again after 5 years. Off course US has its chapter 11. Its time that we amend our laws to give second chance to people who are basically living as 2nd classs citizens (even travel is restricted) if declared bankrupt in Malaysia
Hope this can be raised.
Regards
Raj Kumar
As a Malaysian citizen, PI Bala should be given rightful protection from the Malaysian government. I just wonder why the government is keeping quiet and not granting accordance rights to it’s citizens by launching a search and rescue for him?
Hi Theresa
Right now it would seem like the competitors to Malaysia and Indonesia’s Palm Oil industry have recruited Greenpeace in fighting the demand for palm oil. Pointing towards deforestation and its contribution to global warming and loss of natural habitation of the orang utan.
This is gaining traction with the people in the western world. In recent weeks Cadbury which introduced a new formulation with less cocoa and more Palm Oil and/or derivatives announced stopping it after public outcry, where beyond suggesting changes in flavour and/or texture, greater emphasis was given to deforestation and orang utans.
As I write this, a cargo ship off a port in New Zealand was hijacked by Greenpeace activists because it was carrying Palm Kernal derivatives for animal feed. but the message that you see and read and hear on the news is deforestation, global warming and orang utans.
This country is mired in looking for enemies within. We are so focused on it. But here, we have an enemy from outside at our door step. We all need to come together to fight this one.
As much as it might seem like it is just Greenpeace and a tree huggers campaign, it is more likely one that is backed by and financed by Soya, Sunflower, Corn and other vegetable oil producers who have lost out both in terms of pricing as well as demand. In the early 1990s they fought on the grounds of Palm Oil being bad for health. But the Malaysian Palm Oil Board fought back and proved otherwise. Then more recently transfats and saturated fats contributing to cholesterol and the contribution of vegetable oils towards this took Palm Oil a notch or two above all the other vegetable oils as it did not contribute towards this problem. And now Greenpeace has suddenly started on this. Sounds more like the work of the western producers of the other vegetable oils who have put Greenpeace up for this. So there is really nothing kosher about Greenpeace’s present anti Palm Oil campaign.
Question, what is the Malaysian authorities doing about it? How much are they prepared to spare in educating ordinary Kiwi and Australian and English and French housewives that using Palm oil is no different if not better than using any other vegetable oils?
Is it wise to invest multi billion ringgit in 1 Malaysia F1 team? Ain’t it better to used the money to help the poor and develop East Malaysia under the spirit of 1Malaysia?
The current Malaysia Ambient Air Quality Guideline only has 8 parameters. They are ozone, CO, NO2, SO2, PM10, TSP, Lead and dust. A lot of advance countries has already implemented more stringent standards to their air quality law.
Will the Minister of Environment review the current air quality guideline standard? (At least include the basic heavy metal in Environmental Quality (Sewage and Industrial Effluents) Regulations 1979.
Hi Theresa,
One big concern is all the housing estates in the klang valley is quickly turning into gated ones. Aren’t we taxpayers deserve some kind of safe place to live?? Is annoying that enforcement on crime is zero. That is why house break ins, snatch thief are getting more daring. And best of all, police is busy doing road block on busy roads, setting up cheapo tents and sleep there…
This is actually a common issue and is something that has been raised frequently but i hope something can be done.
Our poor public transport system needs an overhaul. The government is not doing anything because they want to protect Proton and Perodua. 2 reasons:
1. Poor public transportation- more car purchase.
2. When it comes to car purchase, they jack up the foreign imported cars making us the poor Malaysians with no choice but to go for Proton and Perodua. Thank God Perodua is at least tolerable.
This is an open secret. Another reason for our poor system is because the Minister in charge is too busy politicking and defending their position from before until now (since the position is allocated for MCA).
That’s all.
The latest unveil LRT extension to Puchong is not comprehensive enough. The alignment completely miss out the lower Puchong area where there are huge land bank and high potential for future development like Puchong Bt14, Bandar Bukit Puchong, Suajana Puchong etc.
From study of the current alignment, it can be easily re-aligned to reach this area. Please request the relevant authorities to do a complete study with proper catchment study and future development projection before implement this half cook project.
Hi Theresa, when our esteemed ex PM Abdullah Badawi arrived at the scene, he promptly postponed an important Inter Faith Conference and promised to fix another time. Has the Government reset the dates in the light of 1Malaysia and of the fact that our beloved country is in desperate need of fresh and inspired religious dialogue?
Dear Teresa
When is Bank Negara going to start protecting us from all the different ridiculous charges that banks are charging us, like RM10 for a loan statement, RM8 every year for our ATM cards, RM1 for each internet transactions, annual fees for our credit card, etc. etc. etc.? It seems like our Governor of Bank Negara is more interested in protecting the banks than the rakyat. Other countries have already started curbing their banks from making ridiculous profits from the rakyats, but our Bank Negara still seems to be sleeping!
Greetings Teresa! One issue I wish to raise is the indiscriminate posting of sticker posters by Ah Longs on road signs, traffic signs and public property. Why is action not taken against such acts? As far as I know, road signs and traffic signs in Taman Cheras have been fully covered with these stickers. Were these “public property” initially meant to serve as FREE NOTICE BOARDS for these Ah Longs?
It would not be difficult to track down the culprits as all handphones must now be registered. There are telephone numbers on these stickers and it would make tracking these people much easier! The traffic signs in Taman Cheras have recently be replaced with new ones but immediately after replacement, the stickers appear on them again!
I am a disable person. I have one question for you to ask DATO’ SRI SHAHRIZAT ABDUL JALIL. MINISTER OF WOMEN, FAMILY AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT.
When is she going to settle the problems we disable face, we who are single & living alone in low cost flats. The core issue of all our problems – is public transportations. Most of us depend solely on taxi, but since the taxi rates has shot sky high, we are trapped in our homes as most of the low cost flats are far away from the town & hospitals.
As a welfare minister, the disable should be her main concern. Why is she so slow to take some action in here?
Request polis to set up a PTU squad similar to HONGKONG PTU to patrol the city/town
wish u good health N god blessed…
Dear YB, I would like talk about this F1 as proposed by Fernandes, in the eventuality of ending up like PKFTZ saga, who will bear the Cost , What is the Govnment equity in this project, we don’t even can do a proper R & D on Proton, how can Malaysian had faith in such a highly sophiscated Racing Car ? My concern is another loopholes for those powerful to milk our hard earned money.
YB,
I have two questions, first addressed to the Transport Minister and the second to the Education Minister:
1) There are 350,000 outstanding summonses raised by the Traffic Police against Singapore Registered vehicles. Why are there no action carried out to recover past dues/fines? Yesterday, near Seremban along the N-S highways, 2 Singapore registered vehicles were travelling at > 180kmh and there were a menace to everyone else as people were travelling during this Raya holidays. As a citizen, I demand that the Transport Minister set up a task force to take immediate measures to recover past fines and imposed further penalties.
2) Why is the Governmenta dopting a lackadaisical attitude towards PTPTN loan defaulters? Every student-loan borrower has a valid ID and it is so easy to ensure dues to be recovered from their employers. I hope the slogan “1Malaysia: People First, Performance now”. Please performed instead of just being slogans.
I am an Indian Malaysian. Why is that I have never seen an Indian postman for the last10 to 15 years, delivering my letters. Are there no qualified Indian boys to do the job? Or are they no trustworthy kids. Definitely there are thousands and thousands of Indian youths who have failed their SPM waiting to grab any jobs, especially government related jobs. And I dont see any Indian employed at toll booths nor as clerks at post offices. Aren’t there qualified Indians out there. Or is this an 1Malaysia extension.
Dear Yang Berhormat Teresa Kok ( MP Seputeh),
Relevant questions please raise :
1. When is the Higher Education going to ACT or RESIGN on the issue of PLAGIARISM in Malaysian Public Universities?
2. Why is the Higher Education Minister allowing Malaysian Public Universities to decide on the fiddling of marks so that more students could pass out as “graduates ” but could not get jobs in the Private sector?
3. When will the Malaysian Government apply the KPI on Public Universities so that they are among the top 100 Universities in the world rankings?
4. When will the Government open up the Vice-Chancellorships of Public Universities to the whole world so that the BEST are picked to man them?
5. Is there a passing mark for each subject in Public Universities as a bench -mark ? Or are passing amrks adjusted so as to maintan a quota of passes?
Best regards to you as you shoulder the heavy burden of public service.
S.H. Huang
Proton is a baby which refused to grow up. Why are we still nursing it?
Padmanathan
Pls do not call yourself an Indian Malaysian. It is you people that do not understand till now that we are all Malaysians regardless of races.Grow up
I have two questions to raise to your attention:
1) Gated Community – The growth in numbers of gated community converted from non-gated should be a matter of concern for all residents with regards to social segregation. Residents mobility are curtailed when access roads are block and public parks turn into private parks. The police has failed community though billions poured into police force allocation. Nevertheless, gated community convert should not allowed to grow. Community Development Ministry must answer to this development and work together with local councils at the state level, what has been done so far?
2) Toll issue – The Works Ministry has promised to study and review toll rates for all concessionaires in Klang Valley. What is the results of the study so that city folks burden reduced in line with the 1Malaysia slogan rakyat diduhulukan? or 1Malaysia F1 didahulukan?
Dear YB,
While so much of dust has been kicked up on the temple issue in Shah Alam, it is very unsettling to know that nothing has come out of the two reporters who desecrated the Holy Eucharist recently.
Since the government thinks that the F1 Malaysia is such a great investment – it has been said that it would return 100 times what we invest. I understand that the total annual investment, exclusing start up cost could be as high as RM1.0bn
The question I would like asked is this:
1) Since the project could have an ROI of RM100bn why does our government require Airasia and Naza Motors to be partners. The government can have all the profits and benefit the rakyat instead of enriching a select few.
2) If they are going to invite private investors, why don’t they state exactly what the % partnership is exactly so that we can have this on record, just in case the project loses money.
There is no reason for this to be under the OSA. This is taxpayer’s money they are talking about spending, otherwise this will become another PKFZ fiasco.
