Teresa Kok “lashes out at MACC and NST”

SHAH ALAM, July 22 —The conduct of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in its investigations into alleged misuse of state allocations by Pakatan Rakyat (PR) state lawmakers was again called in to question today.

Selangor executive councillor Teresa Kok, who first raised the issue on July 13, was criticised for making an inflammatory statement when she asked why only Chinese state lawmakers from the Petaling district were being targeted in the MACC probe.

The seven state lawmakers were Kok, Hannah Yeoh (Subang), Ean Yong Hian Wah (Sri Kembangan), Dr Cheah Wing Yin (Damansara Utama), Edward Lee (Bukit Gasing), Lau Weng San (Kampung Tuanku) and Elizabeth Wong (Bukit Lanjan).

Kok said today that on July 16 a New Straits Times report based on MACC sources indicated that the agency was also investigating five Malay PR lawmakers for alleged falsification of claims.

The NST editorialised that this was contrary to claims made by Kok that only Chinese state lawmakers were being investigated.

She said a letter to the editor on July 20 with the heading “Remark is inflammatory” also criticised her for asking MACC for an explanation.

However Kok said today her checks with the Petaling district officer revealed that only the files of the seven Chinese lawmakers were taken by a MACC investigating officer, on June 23.

“The truth is no files from other state assemblymen in the Petaling district, except the seven of us, were taken by the MACC,” said Kok, adding that she was just stating a fact when she questioned the MACC conduct.

“Now I am still asking the same question to the MACC based on facts. I did not and would never make any inflammatory or racial remarks as suggested by NST,” said Kok.

Her exco colleague Ronnie Liu said MACC neutrality in conducting its investigations is suspect.

To date MACC has not hauled up any BN state lawmakers for using their annual allocations amounting to RM500,000 in just two months in the run up to the March 8 general election last year.

“They should not blame us for criticising them,” he said.

I don’t see the investigation by MACC on the 7 ADUN as fully selective or targeting only Chinese. You see, did they investigate the previous ADUN of Pandamaran? He’s also Chinese but since he’s from that ‘still in power’ party, the MACC tutup dua belah mata dan buat tak tau.

‘Ronnie Liu said MACC neutrality in conducting its investigations is suspect’

Of course la, MACC is a government apparatus, and it has the privilege of investigating into any alleged corruption cases. Once allowed to act freely, the word ‘neutrality” no longer exists. I don’t think they chose to investigate Chinese Opposition ADUNs only. It could be that those being investigated happen to be Chinese DUNs from the DAP nd PKR. Just give them the benefit of the doubt. It gives the impression that MACC is interested in going after BN’s political rivals only. Just be patient a bit longer, as we are going to see if the police is neutral in their investigation into the death of TBH when the report of the outcome is due to release soon.
So, there is no surprise this delay in investigating into mega alleged corruption cases such as the PKFZ scandal, the Istana Khir Toyo case, etc. Just imagine, things have already come to this mess (the tragic death of TBH) just six months into the MACC’s operation. I shudder to think of what more tragic things will happen in the months and years ahead.

This MACC has got ZERO integrity since its formation by our sleepy flipflop toothless ex-PM.Just look at the head. His son a so called “pilot” was seen to be involved in a despicable crime like child pornography. How can we have guy like this running an important institution like this. Only in Bolehland can this be happening.
Will the government have the integrity and guts to reveal the racial composition of all those working in MACC? I dont think so.
Just look at their eagerness and “efficient” actions against the oppositions especially the chinese like our rep Teresa and Hannah Yeoh speaks volumes of itself. And yet they close their eyes and remain dumb dumb on their evil masters deeds like the PKFZ scandal which involves $$$$$$$$Billions of rakyat hard earn money, and not to mention that “pendatang” KT Toyoland etc..the list goes on…..
For the MSM like NST and UM, they are just working and lapping their masters balls currently in power. Their reporting is only fit for the garbage bins. Not worth talking about them especially the bunch of idiotic and racialistic reporters.
