By Asrul Hadi Abdullah Sani, Malaysian Insider.

SHAH ALAM, July 13 – Pakatan Rakyat (PR) today claimed that seven of its assemblymen are under investigation by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over the allocation of funds to schools, mosques and community associations.

The assemblymen are Teresa Kok (Kinrara), Ean Yong Hian Wah (Sri Kembangan), Dr Cheah Wing Yin (Damansara Utama), Elizabeth Wong (Bukit Lanjan), Hannah Yeoh (Subang Jaya), Lau Weng San (Kampung Tunku) and Edward Lee (Bukit Gasing).

Teresa Kok told reporters at the state legislature that the MACC confiscated the seven assemblymen’s files on the state’s allocation fund from the district office two weeks ago.

The seven assemblymen are now asking why the MACC were only targeting them and are wondering if there was any racial discrimination or because they are from PR.

“In my case, I donated RM10,000 to a surau in Puchong but now the imam and the mosque’s working committee have been interrogated by MACC officers for several hours two days ago. They will come and interrogate them again tonight

“We are only fulfilling our responsibilities but why are we being reprimanded by the MACC and why only the seven of us. Is it because we are Chinese?” Teresa told reporters in the state assembly’s hall.

Wong, who was also at the press conference, added that the action by the MACC was purely a scare tactic.

She said she lodge a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Advisory Board of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.

Wong also claimed that when Barisan Nasional assemblymen lost in the 12th general election, the assemblymen spent RM500,00 in two months but the MACC had yet to take any action.

Kok was angry that MACC “misusing their powers to threaten and scare Malaysians.”

“They are really scared. Just because they receive allocation for the state government from Pakatan assemblyman, they have to be interrogated for several hours? What is MACC’s motive? I give money to the mosque, so must they conduct interrogation on this?” Teresa added.

Federal opposition MPs are not given due development funds for their constituencies.

State ruling ADUNs are ineligible to use development funds too?

Just watched Najib on TV3 on Dateline and his 1Malaysia rhetoric and just read Malaysiakini’s report on Florence Looi’s reprimand for hosting a programme where viewers gave him C and D, need we say more?

Can’t wait for Manek Urai’s results and hope for BN’s trouncing.

Macc not investigating the many cases involving BN people and seems super efficient in dealing with allegations againt PR ADUNs and party members has cast doubt on its claim of impartiality.
Being the Opposition ADUNs and state government Exco members, you can expect the macc to pounce on you on mere allegations of impropriety or corruption. Big profile cases like the PKFZ, Toyo and Zakaria’ houses the macc seems unable to act on. Of course la, the macc was set up by the federal government, and to wait for them to act against them would be like to wait for cats to grow horns.
The PR-controlled state governments must redouble their effort in meeting the basic needs of the people like job creation, improvement of quality of life of the people and in areas within the purview of a state government. Not to be distracted by this macc if no wrongdoing has been done.

What’s up with PR lately? The media doing its’ role in tarnishing PR image or what?

What’s the matter with this Azmin? Trying to be hero?

What’s with MACC? Investigation on funds allocation?? Can someone sue MACC for abuse of power if the allegation is baseless?

Come on, I can just tell MACC someone is doing something fishy, then they’ll go investigate? They should at least filter the allegations.

If not found guilty, MACC should at least show on what basis they’re investigating as this is spoiling innoncent people’s image!

Imagine you get arrested by police in the public for some unknown reason or no basis at all! How would people look at you?

    Terrible country!

The way MACC is going about conducting its investigations suggests selective prosecution. For years, there have been complaints against BN’s assemblypersons and parliamentarians for abusing their constituency funds and yet NO ACTION was taken against anyone of them.

As soon as Pakatan Rakyat got into power, MACC officals raided offices, seized documents and quizzed assemblypersons and fund beneficiaries over such matters.

MACC officials go at ‘thunderous speed’ in their investigations against PR leaders and members while they glaringly indulge at snail’s speed or no action at all in dealing with complaints against BN leaders and their cronies!

MACC should stop its political persecution of PR especially DAP leaders and members!

MACC should operate within acceptable guidelines when conducting investigations!

It is very shocking and tragic to learn of the sudden and suspicious death of Teo Beng Hock, poitical secretary to Selangor Ex-Co YB Ean Yong Hian Wah while under the custody of the MACC in Shah Alam over your above-mentioned investigations.

The MACC must bear full responsibility for his death as Teo was in their custody at that time.

The police should leave no stones unturned in their investigations into his untimely death. The culprits should be brought to book and prosecuted.

We offer our deepest sympathies and condolences to the late Teo’s family. May his soul rest in peace.

I have already said and i want to say again, this MACC is worst than the previous ACA. They are the same old guys if not worst. The scenario can best be described as “Old wine in a new bottle”.
ON another note is how can Bolehland have a guy running this MACC when his son was involved in some disgusting porno material.
Today, there are so many corrupted issues on BN politicians including ex-politicians which involve Billions and Billions of dollars and yet these bums are so eagar and “efficient” harrassing opposition members on relatively trivial matters.

Seems that these bums have minus Zero integrity, arrogant attitude and downright stupid to the core. And now they are liable to be able to charge for murder of a opposition member.
The rakyat must thank the sleepy, flip flop guy who created this dream team in MACC.
