MCA & Gerakan: Withdraw Or Wither!

Posted on Saturday, 16-05-2009 by Teresa

Press Statement By Teresa Kok, MP for Seputeh and National Organising Secretary of DAP On 16th May 2009 (Saturday) at Kuala Lumpur

If MCA and Gerakan Are Serious About Dissolving The Perak State Assembly, They Should Withdraw From Barisan Nasional As Their Stand On This Issue Has Not Been Taken Seriously By UMNO

It is encouraging to see leaders of component parties of Barisan Nasional, particularly MCA and Gerakan to voice out the views of majority of the people of Malaysia that the Perak State Assembly should be dissolved and to have a fresh elections in order to end the political impasse in Perak.

However, the rejection of Prime Minister Dato Seri Najib to their calls  to have a fresh election in Perak state showed that their views have not been respected. If MCA and Gerakan are sincere with their beliefs and if they want to change the perception of the public from “political parasites in BN” to “partners in BN” where their views being respected by key leaders of UMNO, then they should consider to withdraw from BN.

The constitutional crisis in Perak and the chaos in the Perak State Assembly sitting on May 7 have not only put BN to shame, but also put Malaysia negatively in the spotlight in international community. The rejection of Najib to have fresh election in Perak has not only put BN in the bad light, but it has also affected both MCA and Gerakan as their statement on dissolving the Perak State Assembly has not been respected by UMNO, and both parties again being perceived as “political parasites to UMNO”.

These guys in MCA/Gerakan/MIC etc… are no more relevant to the rakyat since 0308. They are like parasites clinging on to their UMNO masters. As I have already said, they just talk, talk…. but no actions whatsoever. I dont think they have the guts and integrity to leave BN. Expecting them to leave BN is like having the SUN rise from the West.

Our country in perspective, is not only negative but minus ZERO to the whole world in terms of integrity, honesty, fairness etc…………
Only PKR can save the country now.

It’s a well-known fact that UMNO is the ‘Big Brother’ of BN. Other component parties of BN including the MCA and Gerakan are obviously subservient to the UMNO boss and his dominant party and they only have a small say which is not even taken seriously by ‘taiko’. The calling by the MCA and Gerakan for the dissolutuion of the Perak State Assembly is just a political stunt to pull wool over the people’s eyes especially the non-Malays. BN Chairman and PM Najib had already sounded out time and again that he would not agree to the dissolution of the Perak Assembly. His reason is obvious for in the event of fresh state elections, BN will be trounced even opined by former PM and UMNO boss Tun M. So what is the MCA and Gerakan shouting about when their opinion was not even considered. In the first place both the MCA and Gerakan would not dare to oppose the decision of ‘Big Brother’ in order to safeguard their positions in the government and that of their respective parties. Wither the MCA and Gerakan?

Any casual observer of Malaysian politics will tell you that MCA and Gerakan have to face a grim future in BN. Chinese Malaysian politician has no hope of ever becoming the Prime Minister, the best they can hope for is the post of 2nd or 3rd Deputy PM only. With the BN in power, MCA or Gerakan can never hope to secure a more senior cabinet post, let alone the post of 2nd or 3rd Deputy PM.
DSAI compares BN to an unfair business partnership. Despite assurance from the biggest partner time and again that theirs is an equal partnership, the truth is nearly all the profits are pocketed by the biggest partner, leaving the other partners with very little.
Some MCA and Gerakan leaders are like being on the verge of mutiny in a sinking hip. They are like urging the captain to unload some unwanted cargoes so that the ship can be saved from sinking.

Well….. we as human with different needs and desire. Some are using politic platform for their own interest. We can see that most of BN’s MP including MCA and Gerakan are such human. Not only in M’sia but the rest of the world.
Afterall we are human gifted by God to have desire and etc. As long these group of people have such desire for their own personal interest that is as long we could see more traumas and sufferings among human. In politic the rakyat is the one to suffer due to these group of people who hv such desire for their own interest without considering others. Unfortunately, these group of people still have support from the rakyat. It’s amazing!

To withdraw or to wither will depend to individual human being to make the choice as each one of us has free choice & will. MCA & Gerakan will still be there until a new dawn is here. To get a divorce fm UMNO is pretty hard for them bcoz these group of people have their own desire to fulfill.

Having said that, I hope that no matter what happen GOD please BLESS the rakyat.

Gerakan president KTK was only recently made a Cabinet minister through a senatorship.

MCA Ong Ka Chuan will be appointed Ambassador to China in the coming days.

So if the MCA and Gerakan were to quit the BN, both parties will lose out big in terms of posts and renumeration. Will they quit? They have everything to lose!

not so long ago, when 60% of the Gerakan people talked about leaving BN (whether as a 3rd force) of part of PR, the top echelon pondered, looked at the gravy train again and decided a No-Go.

what makes you think they would have a paradigm shift? maybe they still have faith in winning the next election and given the control of PDRM, EC, Army, postal voters, hantu voters, MSM, BN can still be still formidable.
