Our Campaign Against ISA Succeeded Half!!!
Kenyataan akhbar Teresa Kok, Ahli Parlimen Seputeh merangkap Exco Kerajaan Negeri Selangor Pada 8 Mei 2009 di Shah Alam
Menyambut Baik pemimpin Hindraf daripada penahanan ISA, ISA mestilah dimansuhkan
Saya mengalu-alukan pembebasan pemimpin-pemimpin Hindraf M. Manoharan, P. Uthayakumar dan K. Vasantha Kumar bersama 10 lagi tahanan Akta Keselataman Dalam Negeri (ISA) hari ini.
Ucapan aluan saya ini sebenarnya saya tujukan khusus kepada 13 tahanan ISA ini yang telah sekian lama sengsara ditahan tanpa bicara di bawah undang-undang yang kejam dan tidak berperikemanusiaan. Saya bersyukur atas pembebasan mereka.
Sebagai bekas tahanan ISA, saya bukan sahaja bersimpati malah memahami apa yang dirasai oleh mereka yang ditahan tanpa sebarang tuduhan. Ini adalah undang-undang yang zalim.
Kerajaan sepatutnya menghapuskan sama sekali ISA tanpa perlu mengkaji semula undang-undang yang jelas kejam dan zalim ini. Kerajaan juga perlu membebaskan kesemua tahanan ISA yang masih dalam kurungan.
Kepada pemimpin-pemimpin Hindraf, termasuk V. Ganabatirau dan R. Kengadharan, yang telah pun dibebaskan pada bulan April lalu, saya berharap mereka akan terus berjuang bersama semua rakyat Malaysia yang prihatin untuk memastikan Malaysia benar-benar demokratik, adil dan bebas dari pemerintahan yang zalim.
Saya juga amat gembira kerana Manoharan yang juga Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri Kota Alam Shah yang mewakili DAP kini bebas untuk menjalankan tugas beliau sebagai wakil rakyat setelah ditahan tanpa bicara selama 14 bulan.
Kami berbangga kerana kempen membebaskan Manoharan serta semua tahanan ISA telah menunjukkan kejayaan walaupun bukan kejayaan seratus peratus. Saya harap semua rakyat Malaysia menyokong segala usaha pemulihan demokrasi dan kebebasan di negara ini.

Yes, I fully agree with YB Teresa that although we have achieved a partial success on the repeal of the ISA with the release of the 13 ISA detainees including that of the 3 remaining Hindraf leaders (DAP YB M. Manoharan included), we have to go all out for the total abolishment of the ISA which allows unlawful detention without trial.
The BN government with Hishamuddin as the Home Minister should hear and accede to the wishes of a vast majority of Malaysians that the ISA should be booted out for good. It’s time now to act positively on the 1Malaysia project with people first and performance now with the entire revocation of the drastic ISA. ISA – it’s time you rest in peace (RIP)!
I feel happy for the 13 ISA detainees and their families. This cruel ISA law is the remnant of the last century, and should be abolished for good. No more communist threats, large scale race riots are now a remote possibility as Malaysians of all races are more educated than 40 years ago and do not buy the venom spewed by the minority racist politicians. Threats to our country have taken new dimensions. Corruption and the abuse of power, if left unchecked, could impoverish the people for generations to come.
Abolish, or at least suspend the ISA so as to allow the people of all races to live in a really free society without having worry and anxiety for our future.
