Umno President Datuk Seri Najib himself has in his presidential speech painted DAP as the main enemy of the Malays. Najib has warned that should DAP come into power, the nation will face “extreme liberalism”.Among the vilification made against DAP was that DAP is anti Islam.
“Wouldn’t we, as Muslims be worried, angry and frustrated if DAP rules the country, as they will not uphold the institution of Islam?, he said in his speech.
Since UMNO has decided on the strategy to paint DAP as the main enemy of Malays, it is not a surprise that DAP has become the punching bag.
But what is most unacceptable is the attacks consist of lies and falsehoods.
DAP, since its establishment in 1966, has never been a party that is anti Malay, anti Islam or anti Rulers. Has Najib come to believe that “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.”?
In the coming general election, DAP will not be fighting head on against UMNO. But why has DAP been painted as the main enemy of Umno and Malays?
The truth is that Najib is most afraid of the political threat posed by former Prime Minister Tun Mahathir , former deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Parti Pribuli Bersatu Malaysia. It is obvious that Najib can see the declining Malay support for himself and UMNO.
It is obvious that by vilifying DAP, Najib hopes to persuade Malays not to support Parti Pribuli Bersatu Malaysia which will cooperate with Pakatan Harapan.
Najib has started his premiership shouting 1 Malaysia slogan and has even implemented a slew of changes. It is therefore tragic that he has, due to the need to survive politically, totally changed and abandoned his previous commitments to make Malaysia a better country.
Najib’s attacks on DAP also shows the frightening aspect of his change. His vilification of the DAP shows the degree of his irresponsibility and even desperation.
In facing the unprecedented political threat which may result in UMNO’s worst ever electoral disaster, Najib must ask himself why has the threat emerged, rather than resort to politics of threat and falsehoods.
He should not propagate lies and falsehoods as DAP is not and will not be the main enemy of the Malays.
Neither must he believe that if you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it, ” because with so much information flow in the social media, the people with the information obtained can determine what is truth and lie.
