Today is the first day of Parliament sitting after a long break during fasting month and Hari Raya.
I am quite happy to be able to come back to Parliament as I have been longing to blast the Barisan Nasional government over my ISA detention.
When I walked into the Dewan Rakyat at about 10.10am, it was question and answer time. I saw Minister of Home Affairs Syed Hamid sitting in the front bench opposite me.
He looked at me and I gave him a stare without a smile. I gave him the ‘evil’ look. 🙂
I then glanced through the oral questions on the day’s order paper, hoping to get a chance to ask supplementary question from any of the questions listed.
I then spotted a chance to say my piece in the Dewan Rakyat when I saw oral question number 8 where the MP for Kuala Langat was to ask the Minister of Home Affairs on steps being taken by the government to address the problems of children who have been kidnapped and have not been found (Malay version: Tuan Abdullah Sani bin Abdul Hamid (Kuala Langat) minta Menteri Dalam Negeri menyatakan apakah langkah-langkah Kerajaan untuk mengatasi masalah mangsa culik kanak-kanak yang masih belum ditemui.)
I then waited for an hour and prayed quietly that the speaker will allow me to ask supplementary question on this oral question.
Thank God, no one stood up for supplementary question except the MP who raised the question. And I.:-)
The Speaker, Pandikar Amin then allowed me to ask the supplementary question. But at that time, Syed Hamid already left the Dewan Rakyat, the oral question was then answered by Chor Chee Heung.
I asked him what about the kidnap of a Member of Parliament like what had happened on me when I was dragged away by police officers and put under the ISA on 12th September.
I said the manner I was arrested was like kidnap like what we see in movie, and I was not allowed to make calls as my mobile phone was taken away by the police.
I said I was kidnapped for seven days until the Minister of Home Affairs declared that I was no more a threat to national security. I said how can this happen to a MP and how can a MP be denied of carrying out his/her duty and be kidnapped by police just based on an article that’s published in a newspaper and blogs in internet?
Speaker Pandikar Amin then tried to stop me from speaking further with a smile on his face.
I refused to give in, I told him that we should take this seriously as one day the Speaker might be kidnapped under the ISA and all of us might need to organise a campaign to save him. 🙂
When Chor Chee Heung replied, he then said I can put my experience in another form and raise again in future as my question was not related to the original issue raised.
Normally, when I ask tricky questions like this, I will be disturbed by the UMNO backbenchers, but to my surprise, when I raised this supplementary question, no one made noise from the BN seats, and some of them have smiles on their faces.
During lunch time, when I was waiting for a car to go out for lunch, I met Syed Hamid at the entrance of Parliament building. In the past, I will normally smile at him or shake hand with him, but I don’t do this now cos I can’t smile at him anymore.
I said to him, “So, this is the man who put me under the ISA.”
Syed Hamid quickly denied his involvement and said there is nothing to do with him. I said he has no sympathy for me. He said he cannot agree with me on the understanding of the issue. He then entered into his car.
Hi hi, I won’t let him go, I will continue to make noise over my ISA detention in the Parliament. LOL 🙂

‘Kidnapped’ Seputeh MP speaks up |
Rahmah Ghazali | Oct 13, 08 4:10pm |
DAP parliamentarian Teresa Kok expressed disappointment over her recent arrest under the Internal Security Act (ISA) but the deputy home minister shot down her question on technical grounds. This, among snippets from today’s proceedings.
Kok: ‘ I was kidnapped too’ Teresa Kok (DAP-Seputeh), who was recently detained for seven days under the ISA, expressed dissatisfaction with the police in a supplementary question. Deputy Home Minister Chor Chee Heung informed the House about the government’s steps to tackle the issue of missing children who are suspected to have been kidnapped. Kok then shifted the focus to cases of MPs ‘kidnapped’ by the police. “All they (the police) said was, ‘they can find out about it in the newspaper tomorrow’…Isn’t this called kidnap as well?” Chor shot down the question, saying she should have submitted a specific question on this instead of raising it under the topic of kidnapped children. “We can then answer it in a suitable manner since she is no longer a child, is she?” asked Chor. Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz brushed aside the notion that the discovery of bags in Sungai Tebobon, Menggatal, in Sabah is proof of ‘mismanagement’ of the March 8 general election. “This was actually due to Election Commission (EC) staff failing to return unused election material to their Sabah office in the 1999 general election. No postal votes were found in the bags,” he told the House. Nazri was responding to Edmund Chong Ket Wah (BN-Batu Sapi), who asked whether police action to destroy the bags could affect the country’s image in terms of ability to conduct a free and fair election. “After a thorough check, it was found that (the bags only contained) plastic wrappers used during the 1999 general election. The police are now conducting a forensic investigation to detect the age of the bags. “The bags will be destroyed by the police only after the outcome of the investigation has been communicated to the EC… this incident will not affect the country’s image unless it is politicised.” Gov’t mum on Maybank deal Lim Guan Eng (DAP-Bagan) queried government-linked Maybank’s intention to acquire a financially-struggling Indonesian bank for RM8.25 billion – double the market price. Directing the question to Finance Minister II Nor Mohamed Yakcop (right), Lim claimed that Maybank would face a RM4 billion loss if it proceeds with the purchase of Indonesia International BRI. The minister, however, dismissed the point as “not relevant” as the House was discussing the country’s economic situation at that point. Lim refused to back down, arguing that the money belongs to the people and that it should not be mismanaged by the government. However, speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia intervened to give Puad Zarkashi (BN-Batu Pahat) the opportunity to ask another supplementary question. [More to follow] |
Well done YB! You shpould continue to give Syed Hamid the heat for the rubbish he has being doing lately! I agree with you, if a MP can go through what you did, what else us the normal rakyat???
I got to give credit to the BN folks who kept their hands and mouths shut to allow you to speak!
Its about time!
Dear YB,
Bravo.!! U did what u should have done.
I think SOME of them realized that one day they will be the victim like you.. so they kept quite and let u speak up.
The justice will prevail.
Whenever you get an opportunity, please give him what he deserves. Hoping for the day when they will be treated the same. He has to pay for his karma. Take care and continue fighting for justice.
Why buy a failing bank double the market price?? I assume it is share market price. Why??? Do some of the BN cronies has a stake in it?
An issue as important as a MP locked under ISA without ground could be dismissed without serious debate is pathetic. What technicality was this Chinaman talking about. Perhaps, this traitor of a civil society is not fit to be the DHM…the only talent he has is to lick the dusty a** of his master.
Teresa, don’t let them off so lightly. In a civilized country, both of these men, HM and his deputy will be sacked in disgrace!
Yes ! put great pressure on Hamid ! he’s a cruel hp6 home minister ! haha…
Good quote:
“To me, the 18-hour experience was not a trauma or “glory”. Instead, it was an opportunity for the people to see the unity spirit of the media, as well as the power of public opinion.”

YB Teresa Kok,
At lunchtime, Home Minister Datuk Syed Hamid Albar told Seputeh MP Teresa Kok:”Your detention under ISA had nothing to do with me at all!’
And in Dewan Rakyat, Finance Minister 2 answered LGE: ‘soalan ini tidak relevan’
These are how our ministers respond to serious questions.
Thats great Teresa. You dont have to give face to this arrogant, pea brain and racialistic toad. Luckily he faced a forgiving lady like you. If I were in your place I will definitely give him something nasty between my fingers. Like somebody said, he is only fit to be a toilet cleaner the way he ran and made a laughing stock of our country to the whole world.
Just look, the first day of parliament, we have our johnny come lately to be PM missing with his cronies.
How to run the country with bums like these.
That Deputy HM is always “chor” in cantonese. His actions and words confirmed it. Look, a kidnap is a kidnap irrespective whether is a kid or an adult.
Please dont try to show the rakyat you got brains. What you have said and done have proved otherwise.
Dont tell me we have another pea brain “chor” in BN.
You are embarrassing your MCA members. They have already been whacked and embarrassed enough in the 08 march.
I used to have a fair bit of respect for this blogger until this.
http://rockybru.com.my/2008/10/in-support-of-utusan-malaysia.html
There is a fundamental difference in a newspaper making a stand base on what they believe is creditable truth (freedom of press) and blatant false reporting designed to incite.
Even the masjid committee had come out to refute Utusan Malaysia’s report.
Other newspapers have had their license revoked, reporter being detained, editorial been reprimanded and acquired by political parties for much lesser error (printing of a newspaper containing a certain cartoon), or simply reporting facts(the Star in 1987)
Happy to note many people in Malaysia Today and his own blog giving him a piece of mind.
Rocky, this one is a collector’s item – the day you lost the plot. Freedom of press do not mean freedom for newspapers to commit libel, being recalcitrant, stroking up antagonistic feelings, false reporting etc. Utusan Malaysia do not deserve freedom of press because, with in order to have freedom, one must have a sense of responsibility and fair play.
It’s been known for years that the simplest trick of the government is to refuse to answer any questions that are embarrasing to them.
For this alone, they should’ve been booted out long ago.
Dear YB Teresa,
MCA like Chor Chee Heung has no power on making any decision. They are only the BN yes men and a follower. Please keep doing tha to Syed Hamid. I, a Malaysian feel shame of what the goverment had done to you.
YB, careful lor, don’t let them take you in again for not smiling and shaking their dirty hands oh!
Like what they implied during the open house in PWTC!
He he he.
Yes, ‘smack the pie’ in his face everytime you have the chance! That stupid baldie!
Way to go “St” Teresa!
Give no room for this man without heart to breath! He must have felt the heat when you stared at him with that ‘evil’ look. Feeling his guilty conscience, he must have hurrily packed off.
By the way…I wanted to comment in MT regarding Rocky article regarding the article but it seems it was blocked. Allowed me to state my mind here “st” Teresa as the article concern you.
Foremost, with due respect, I am not out to ‘protect’ ‘st’ Teresa but just wish to express my view on what Rocky wrote.
Utusan would not have been sued if only they have apologise for their mistake. But they are too thick-headed and too coward to apologise. I’m sure that Teresa would not had proceeded with her legal action should Utusan apologise. But they did not, so where and what else can one do to get justice? Bring them out to the mamak stall and have a teh-tarik?
On Rocky’s lost nights’ sleep over legal suits filed by disgruntled individuals and organisations when he was editor of Business Times and The Malay Mail – the answer to that Rocky is right in your little pea in your head. Should you have been reporting false reports and you don’t have the balls to apologise for the mistake, what can I say? Only…SERVE YOU RIGHT..that the cost of not having the balls and being a man enough to admit your mistake. But on the other hand, if you are not wrong, why have the sleepless nights?
THE BOTTOMLINE, ROCKY, IT IS NOT THE LEGAL SUITS THAT KEPT YOU AWAKE BUT YOUR GUILTY CONSCIENCE!
Good!kEEP niose on parliament!let BN know that THEY CANT USE ISA TO ARREST INNOCENT PERSON AND MUST ANSWER Y THEY MUST USE ISA AND Y NOT ABOLISH IT!I SUPPORT TERESA ANYWAY!!! :>
I like to support you too. But I have my reservation. In fact I’v met a few x-detainees, n with your reactions, I found out that you all have a common trait ; not to see things from ‘govermentation’ point of view.
Anyway I hav an advice to you. Please retain that sassy style, n not be ‘seducted’ by your supporters. I can see that they are changing you into some kind of ware-wolve!
Continuously make the parliament a place for championing peoples rights and welfare, but not your own welfare and right.
I bet there is some sort of truth and remain of the goodness out of the UMNO Backbenchers. We believe that they know that what their respective elite leader did was wrong and as a follower they thoroughly cannot admit that it is the mistake of their elder that lead them to the CURSE of their sin.
So there is justice as in the conviction of their respective soul with the contemplating in voice of silent with a smile. Just admitting that whatever causes that their party did was not their conviction to make this dreadful ISA detention happened. It is more of the higher elder that lead them to succumb to this immediate action to retrieve their party honor back. Well is this way are right? Or it is a back fire and smearing of their muddy face on the effect of counter check and balance in the course of natural of law of the universe.
We believe Syed Hamid was the arrow of the detention of your kind ISA in the part of police lockup and retention. But keep focus on the one that gear up the bow and fire the arrow that hit you as a result of this action. The arrow without a proper guidance will not hit it designated eye on the target. Take more aware of the bow keeper who actually devised the attack to hit you.
A complication is it. It will be in the arena of political deception and strategist of darts of fire being spew after one another. One might have the ability to avoid. But the questions how far that the dart will catch up and soon our strength weary and we lose out focus hence we are pierce through the wound of the arrow.
Take courage don’t hit the soldier when one can devise to hit the King at the aftermath of the politician game. Be bold and focus the point is that Syed Hamid may be an instruction from the second man himself to resolute to create fear with the ultimate intention to subdue and bring down his greatest enemy; RPK. Tan and your arrest maybe a mean to decoy arrest to such as arrest finally end with the solution of the main motive.
One can figure it ourselves with the wisdom of God…
May the nation be blessed with the expected leadership or is it likewise?
Dont waste time mentioning this Rockybru bum guy.
From day one, I have doubts this guy is really sincere and belong to the rakyat.
However, now he is beginning to show his true self.
My advice is dont ever read what he writes anymore.
His comments are now fit for the garbage bins.
