Cheras Umno starts fund for Utusan
KUALA LUMPUR: The Cheras Umno division has started a fund to help Utusan Malaysia defend itself against a RM30mil defamation lawsuit filed by Seputeh MP Teresa Kok.
Kicking off the fund with a RM20,000 contribution, division head Datuk Syed Ali Al Habshee said the Tabung Azan would also be used to assist mosques and suraus that needed money to buy loudspeakers for the purpose of the azan (call to prayer).

“Challenging the Malays is similar to challenging Umno,” he said in urging other divisions to contribute to the fund.
On Thursday, Kok sued Utusan Melayu Sdn Bhd and the paper’s columnist Zaini Hassan over an article that allegedly defamed her.
Kok was said to have petitioned a mosque in Puchong to reduce the volume for the azan, something which she has strongly denied.
The mosque has also stated she was not involved in such a move.
Syed Ali said questioning the azan meant questioning the honour of Malays and Islam.
On another matter, Syed Ali said the scene that erupted at the division’s Wanita delegates meeting Saturday night lend more weight for the abolition of the quota system in nominating leaders.
“One of the delegates wanted to contest the post of vice-chief which requires 10% of the nominations. Since our division has 31 branches, that would mean 3.1 nominations.”
Syed Ali said the Umno headquarters then clarified that 3.1 nominations actually meant four nominations.
“All hell broke loose because the delegate already had three nominations. I just told them to go ahead and let her contest. It is a ridiculous ruling,” he said.
Outside the meeting hall yesterday, Sri Indah branch chief Nordin Pilus protested against the division’s action to suspend his branch for apparently not meeting the quorum when the branch convened.

RM32,000 diterima serta-merta
KUALA LUMPUR 12 Okt. – UMNO Bahagian Cheras hari ini melancarkan Tabung Azan untuk bersama-sama akhbar Utusan Malaysia memperjuangkan kebebasan melaungkan azan di masjid dan surau di negara ini.
Ketua UMNO Bahagian Cheras, Datuk Syed Ali Alhabshee berkata, kutipan tabung itu akan digunakan untuk membantu mana-mana masjid dan surau membeli peralatan pembesar suara selain keperluan lain yang berkaitan.
Tambahnya, hasil tabung itu juga akan digunakan untuk membantu program melahirkan muazin muda yang dilihat boleh menjadi pelapis kepada golongan berumur di masjid dan surau.
‘‘Kita wujudkan tabung untuk turut membantu Utusan Malaysia yang disaman Ahli Parlimen Seputeh, Teresa Kok RM30 juta baru-baru ini.
“Buat permulaan, kita akan menjadi badan induk yang mengumpul hasil kutipan daripada UMNO bahagian lain dan badan korporat,’’ katanya pada sidang akhbar selepas merasmikan Persidangan Perwakilan UMNO Bahagian Cheras di sini.
Pada majlis itu juga, Syed Ali mengumumkan sumbangan pertama RM20,000 daripada UMNO Bahagian Cheras dan Yayasan Pendidikan Cheras (YPC).
Selain itu, tabung tersebut turut mendapat sumbangan sebanyak RM12,000 daripada individu-individu yang menjadikan keseluruhannya berjumlah RM32,000.
Jelasnya, setiap bahagian UMNO diminta memberi bantuan kepada tabung itu.
‘‘Ini pendekatan yang dibuat untuk membantu akhbar orang Melayu. Semua pihak seharusnya tidak mempertikaikan, malah menghormati perbezaan agama masing-masing.
‘‘Kita terpanggil apabila timbul isu ini. Tindakan Teresa yang mengambil tindakan kepada Utusan Malaysia sama seperti dia menyaman agama Islam,” ujarnya.
Oleh itu, katanya, sebuah pertubuhan bukan kerajaan (NGO) akan dipilih untuk mengendalikan kutipan tabung yang dijangka berakhir tahun ini.
‘‘Kita akan jaga tabung ini untuk sebulan. Kita akan minta sebuah NGO menyambung tanggungjawab menjaga setiap kutipan kepada tabung ini,’’ jelasnya.
Oleh itu, beliau menegaskan, UMNO Bahagian Seputeh turut dicadangkan untuk mengambil tindakan segera kepada Teresa selepas beliau sendiri memulakan kempen tabung Azan tersebut.
‘‘UMNO Cheras sudah mengadakan Tabung Azan dan kita berharap UMNO Seputeh pula mengambil tindakan terhadap Teresa,’’ katanya.
Semalam, Naib Presiden Persatuan Anak-Anak Melayu Johor, Wilayah Persekutuan dan Selangor, Datuk Syed Hussein Alhabshee mencadangkan penubuhan Tabung Menyelamat Utusan dan menggesa semua pertubuhan bukan kerajaan (NGO) Melayu bersatu untuk mempertahankan syarikat Utusan Melayu dengan memberi sokongan kepada tabung itu.
Menurut Syed Hussein, akhbar Utusan Malaysia merupakan satu-satunya wadah orang Melayu yang telah terbukti membela dan mempertahankan kaum itu sejak dahulu hingga kini.
Pada 9 Oktober lalu, Teresa memfailkan saman terhadap Utusan Melayu (M) Bhd. dan kolumnis, Mohd. Zaini Hassan bagi menuntut ganti rugi RM30 juta kerana didakwa menerbitkan artikel berunsur fitnah terhadapnya.
Teresa mendakwa artikel bertajuk Azan, Jawi, Jais, UiTM dan ba-alif-ba-ya dalam Utusan Malaysia pada 10 September lalu diterbitkan dengan niat jahat selain memperkecilkan beliau secara peribadi dan rasmi termasuk sebagai Ahli Parlimen, Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri dan anggota Exco Kerajaan Negeri Selangor.
This clearly show how racialistic these guys are in Umno. The way the acted are so stupid and brainless.
This case is NOT, I repeat NOT against Malays whatsoever. This garbage reporting UM has twisted the facts and put an innocent woman under ISA. Even the mosque have came out and support her. And yet we have these pea brain idiots distorted the facts and made it a racial issue. How low can they stoop. They not only make themselves look horribly stupid but also with one sided brains.

It is very sad that those in UMNO still cannot understand that you are not the one who has brought the issue of azan. I am equally surprised that none of the top UMNO leaders come out to say that you are not the one who wrote the protest note. It would infact help the cause of UMNO if its leaders come out and say that its members should not blame you as it is proven that it was not you. UMNO leaders are still playing the racial card here.

– Utusan Malaysia does not represent Islam although it is staff mainly by muslims
– Utusan Malaysia is a commercial entity established under and subject to relevant applicable laws of Malaysia like the Printing Act, Companies Act, Income Tax so I suppose Islam the religion is subject to the aforementioned? I sincerely do not think so.
Don’t get me wrong, it is their right to go asking for money. I am sure this is a highly skilled art not many can master.
As with all charitable funds in Malaysia, we do not really know where the contributions go. Remember the JE funds? Remember the Tsunami Funds? Remember the State Assemblymen’s Desperate Housewives Shopping er…Charity funds of Selangor and Penang? As far I as know, I do not know how the money been applied and I doubt a published accounts will be made in respect of this collection drive.

Furthermore the suing of the Utusan Melayu is as mere to tell to the world that justice must be serving in the honor of Allah as the witness.
Why have our people and human lost in their own iniquities by igniting their own burden by evoking Allah glorious name to blasphemy within the holy place like the mosque and place of worship. Politic is politic and evil is evil. It cannot be indulge with goodness. So does politics and religion cannot be fusion. As this will stir desertion of the community of the holiness to succumb to the temptation of the evil world which might be against Allah will.
I pray that this people who ignite the fund will not indulge in worshipping for the wrong reason.
Cause the wrath of Allah is intense as describe in the Holy books.
