Justice for Teresa Kok Campaign Closed. A BIG Thank you to all who supported me

Posted on Tuesday, 19-05-2015Monday, 25-05-2015 by -ec-

Dear all, I am pleased to announce that we have achieved the target of RM50K ISA court cost in the “Donate RM1, Justice for Teresa Kok” campaign. As at 5pm today, the total collection via bank transfer and cash donation delivered to me was RM50,768.80. So the fund raising campaign is CLOSED after the launch by DAP FT on last Tuesday. The excess collected will be used for legal cost in my ISA appeal. My lawyer Sankara Nair acts for me on pro-Bono basis. In the past years, his firm has absorbed a lot of expenses, such as filing fees, disbursement, subpoena delivery and transportation cost for witnesses that appeared in the court trial. Two weeks ago, SN Nair & Partners has paid RM1,600 filing fees to appeal against the High Court’s decision on my ISA detention. A little recap about the “RM1” campaign for those who missed out my May 12 post on the donation drive: I was unfairly and arbitrarily detained under the infamous ISA in 2008 on baseless allegations. In 2009, I decided to sue the government as I felt I must make a strong stand against such abuse of the ISA and injustice, but I lost the civil suit in the High Court on April 22 this year and was ordered to pay court cost of RM 50,000. On May 12, DAP FT launched the “RM 1 per person, Justice for Teresa Kok” donation campaign with the objective of collecting RM 50,000 to help pay my court cost to the government. I would like to thank the person who gave me the inspiration to initiate the RM1 donation campaign that targeted ordinary sympathetic Malaysians. The donors came from all races, including the bumiputera in Sabah and Sarawak too. I value each and every donor who participated in this fund raising campaign. Every single donation, whether big or small shows your stance against arbitrary arrest, detention with trial, abuse of power and travesty of justice. A BIG THANK YOU and BIG HUG to all of you. My heartfelt thanks too to all who have also given me their words of encouragement, support and sympathy. May God reward all of you with abundant blessings. ‪#‎Lawan‬ Tetap Lawan!!!💪
