If MCA and Gerakan are truly opposed to Hudud law as they claim, they should quit BN and not continue to be the “disuruh pergi, dipanggil datang “political partners of of UMNO

Since the Kelantan State Assembly recently passed the Hudud law amendments, MCA and Gerakan leaders have been making aggressive and baseless attacks over the DAP’s stand , especially in the printed Chinese media.

Let me reiterate that DAP‘s stand on Hudud law is very consistent and clear. DAP has not lied or compromised on our stand. Hudud law is neither the consensus nor the common policy of Pakatan Rakyat. The DAP will never betray our founding principles.

The DAP does not therefore owe the people an apology as claimed by MCA and Gerakan. Instead , MCA and Gerakan are the two parties which must apologize to the people and quit BN for their inconsistent stand on Hudud law.

Two days ago, Kelantan Deputy Mentri Besar Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said that the reason why the Kelantan government has decided to table the necessary Hudud law amendments in the recent State Assembly was a because of the challenge thrown by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Jamil Khir in Parliament last year.

Indeed, it was Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Jamil Khir who had on March 27 last year in Parliament instigated PAS to present a Private Member’s Bill on Hudud laws and even assured PAS of Umno’s support.

But not only MCA and Gerakan had failed then to state their opposition to such instigation by an UMNO Minister, they had also allowed Kelantan UMNO Assemblymen to support the Hudud law tabled in the recent Kelantan State Assembly meeting.

So who are not consistent on the opposition of the Hudud law, DAP? MCA? Gerakan? Definitely MCA and Gerakan! Yet they have the gall to attack DAP and demand that DAP apologise to the people.

If MCA and Gerakan are truly opposed to Hudud law as they claim, they should quit BN and not continue to be the “disuruh pergi, dipanggil datang“ political partners of Umno.
