As we prepare to celebrate the Hari Raya Puasa festivities tomorrow, I wish to extend my warm greetings and good wishes to all Malaysians of the Muslim faith.
Malaysians regardless of religious belief and ethnicity will be joining their Muslim brothers and sisters in the celebrations and to strengthen interfaith and inter-ethnic ties.
Our unique cultural diversity enables us to celebrate each others’ festivities in joy and true friendship.
While we celebrate, we must remember the less fortunate in our midst and do our share to extend our help to the poor and needy.
I appeal to all Malaysians to be united as we face the fallout of the Wall St meltdown. We need to stay united to resolve socio-economic problems and difficulties by peaceful and democratic means.
The entire global economy is facing very complex challenges and we must focus all our energies towards preparing our nation to face these challenges and not get embroiled in petty quarrels and bickering.
I wish all Malaysians “Selamat Hari Raya Aidil Fitri – Maaf Zahir & Batin”
