Two UMNO-owned papers, two different positions

Posted on Friday, 26-09-2008 by Teresa

The circus in UMNO is getting more and more interesting.

Looks like we are going to have a new PM soon. LOL

In order to cover up the power struggle within UMNO, Utusan has been making me its “cover girl” in the past few days. I am quite please to see the way they made me famous, because by doing so, they are degrading themselves.  🙂

In today’s Utusan, the Kedah UMNO chief is quoted as asking for DAP to take disciplinary action against me for my comments on detainees’ food. He also asked DAP to follow UMNO’s example in “taking action against Ahmad Ismail for allegedly uttering seditious words”.

Hi hi, he wants the party to take action against me for describing the ISA detention camp food “similar as dog food” ah? Don’t we have better things to do? 🙂

However, in the midst of such nonsensical noise, Ku Li has come out to take a stand to slam the recent ISA arrests.  I am comforted that I at least have some friends in UMNO Kelantan.

These two news reports that were published in two different UMNO-owned papers also reflect the stand and position of these two papers on the ISA. One concentrating on trivial nonsensical matters while the NST has greater depth in its reporting and analysis.

Like the slogan in the Berita Harian TV advertisement: Zaman Sudah Berubah (Time Has Changed) …… The one who refused to change and still choose to stay behind times, will be chucked by readers sooner or later.

Razaleigh: Use of ISA has affected govt’s credibility

Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah slams the recent ISA arrests

KUALA LUMPUR: Another Umno stalwart has criticised the recent use of the Internal Security Act, saying it had eroded the government’s credibility.

Gua Musang member of parliament and Umno presidential aspirant Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah said the detention under the ISA of a blogger, newspaper reporter and an opposition MP had heightened rather than calmed racial fears.

“In the present context of a leadership struggle within Umno and a strong opposition, it is impossible to dispel the notion that these measures are calculated to keep certain individuals in power.

“Nothing does more to undermine the legitimacy of a government than plainly unjust acts,” Tengku Razaleigh said in a statement here.

His criticism follows that of former de-facto law minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim, who resigned from his cabinet post last week in protest against the ISA arrests.

Blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin was on Tuesday sent to the Kamunting detention centre in Perak where he will begin his internment of up to two years under Section 8 of the ISA.

Selangor senior executive councillor Teresa Kok and Sin Chew Daily reporter Tan Hoon Cheng have been released.

The arrests were also criticised by other Barisan Nasional component party leaders from the MCA and Gerakan.

In his statement, Tengku Razaleigh painted a bleak picture of the nation’s current political and economic situation.

He said the political and economic crisis could cascade into long-term instability for the country.

“I appeal to all parties to come together to hold an honest discussion about what is happening to our country.

“We need to come together to find unity and direction out of this dangerous situation.”

Utusan wajar saman Teresa (Utusan Malaysia 26/09/08)

Oleh ZAMZURINA AHMAD

YAN 25 Sept.

    niche marketing

NST in international language and can be picked up by the relatively more educated locals and foreigners hence the reports must have a bit of credibility in it

UM mainly for the die hards, mono-lingo group and heartland readers … the quality of thought put in ….well, I’ll call it UMNO fanzine then

divide and rule is alive and well

    Ms Utusan Cover Girl (LOL),

I want Ku Li to be our PM… You think can or not? I don’t feel comfortable with Najib but it seems everything UMNO doing now, is for the 2 persons, Abdullah and Najib… What about Ku Li who is running for presidency? Democracy for that 2 persons or democracy for the party?

This paper is not fit for reading by any decent citizen. If not for the Umnoputras, this paper is long dumped into garbage bins. No credibility, racialistic and run by a bunch of idiotic bums who are not qualified to be reporters. They bring shame and disgrace to the press community.
Anyway, Teresa these reporting bums can never discredit because majority of the rakyat know they are sick people with a twisted mind.

    On the side note,

I really like to know your view towards the recent temple demolition, since you are one of the member of the state non-muslim affairs committee…

    Temple demolished for renovation

KUALA LUMPUR: The Hindu temple in Ampang had been demolished by its own committee to make way for renovation and a face lift.

Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin said the public condemnation of the demolition and accusation lashed at the local council and state government was unfounded.

The PKR MP said MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy’s allegations were completely unfounded and untrue.

“The truth is the temple was demolished by its own committee to make way for renovation and a face lift. They did this of their own accord and did not consult nor seek approval from the state government beforehand.

“We did not even know about the demolition until it happened,” she said.

According to her, the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) was currently investigating the issue and was still waiting for the local council’s report.

    YB Teresa Kok,

We will have a new PM soon, and most people say he is none other than Najib Tun Razak, if you stick to the alphabet R.A.H.M.A.N. The name of our 6th PM starts with the letter N. But some people are of the opinion that the next PM could also also be a man whose name also starts with N – Nik Aziz (or Tok Guru). Do you all agree?

  8. leguan says:
    Friday, 26-09-2008 at 19: 30.18

But my choice of the 6th PM of Malaysia is a man whose name starts with an ‘A’ hehe

    2) Nik Aziz
    3) Ng Yen Yen
    4) Nallakurappan
    5) Nie Nie (Teo Nie Ching)
    6) Nurul Izzah
    7) Ng Wei Aik
    8) Nelson Mandela (imported)
    9) Remember Ngoh (the Sarawak Sukma Swimmer with that name)
    10) Nori’s husband

Okay..so be it. If the N is meant for that womaniser, then so be it as he has only another 4 years to sit his big smelly ass on the throne. After that, no more alphabets to follow right? That means no more UMNO goons to govern the country and we will definitely BOOT them out of office in the next GE. Be patience…Rome wasn’t built in one day. Keep the momentum going and Malaysia will have a new government for sure! Never…never lose hope when you know you are fighting a long hard battle for justice and equality.

Morning! Dont you have any other agenda than ISA? I really would like to know how you dwell in your constituency. Or just tell me how are going to run the country, or how you wish the nation be run. You know, after much campaigning in Permatang Pauh, I thought that that merdeka theme be further boosted, instead what came out from the PR declaration is to uphold the Constitution. Is merdeka gone to the drain?

    YB Teresa Kok,

Beware! Every word that you say in public interview s or speeches is under close scrutiny by yr political opponents, since you’re now most famous female politician today. It’s understandable, yr increasing support among the kampung people, senior exco of the Selangor government have not gone down well with them. It’s like that onelah. The realities of politics.
From now on, yr voice need not be so ‘lantang’ because you’re already so famous. Give the BN people a chance to verbally attack you, and allow them to gain notoriety. PAKATAN RAKYAT could be on the verge of taking over and let the people know you speaking from the position of the government and they seem like the Opposition in their political wilderness. Choose your words well and speak with grace. I’m sure they will be more afraid of you and respect you.

You know what to do lah. You have a great future but what I’m worried is you could find yourself in jail again should they decide not to go for fair play…

    lee wee tak,

Of the 10 names you mentioned, the (6) Nurul Izzah has set my mind thinking…. If UMNO’s successions is R.A.H.M.A.N then PAKATAN’s could be A.N.W.A.R. or Anwar Ibrahim, Nurul Izzah, (W..), (A..), (R..). Just predicting the unpredictable….
On a more serious note, PM N could end up as the country’s shortest-serving PM so far, or just PIW (PM-In-Waiting) only, if DSAI had his way. Let’s see. Anyway,it’s my personal view only.

DAP never advocate violence. who is behind this? who incited such terrible uncivlised action

we must stop Malaysia from becoming a Palestine, Pakistan where violence rule over reason

PDRM better salvage their reputation by looking into this and take effective action

Gosh…what is this country becoming into? Obviously some of these uncivilised UMNO goons are going all out to intimidate any opposition politician who dares to speak out on issues that hurt them, isn’t it? If you can’t shut them up with ISA, I guess thuggery is another option to scare them. They are worse than thieves and robbers. No prize for guessing who is behind this latest terrorism act of cowardice!

Somehow I doubt they will even understand what I am about. And if you do, hey I only hope to give you a little tickle here o.k.
