Today I sent a letter (hand-delivered and emailed) to Datuk Seri Dr. Chua Soi Lek to seek his action in getting the permits from Education Ministry for Chinese schools in Selangor following the approval and allocation of land by the Pakatan-led state government.
Dr. Chua had said in the 18 February 2012 debate with Penang Chief Minister YAB Lim Guan Eng, that Pakatan Rakyat state governments have failed to provide land for Chinese schools. However, the proof available in relation to Selangor, and land for Chinese schools, is indisputable as we have documented evidence on the decisions to approve the state land for Chinese schools.
The letter to Dr. Chua reflected this and I also provided him with copies of the said documents. I urged him to take action on the matter to ensure that these schools can now get their permits from the Education Ministry to build their branch schools.
The letter was sent to the MCA HQ where Dr. Chua was present and received it. The PDF version of the letter can be downloaded here:Letter to Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek

Dear Datuk Chua,
RE: Seeking your action in obtaining permit for SJKC Yak Chee (2) & SMJK Katolik (2) to be built at Taman Tasik Prima Puchong
I would like to highlight an error you made during the debate with Penang Chief Minister YAB Lim Guan Eng on 18 February 2012, that the state governments in Penang and Selangor have not provided land to Chinese schools.
For your information, Selangor’s Pakatan-led government has approved land for five Chinese schools that were applied for by JKPTG since 8th March 2008. These schools are:
i) SJK(C) Hin Hua, Klang;
ii) SJK(C) Bandar Serendah, Hulu Selangor;
iii) SJK(C) Balakong, Hulu Langat;
iv) SJK(C) Connaught (2), Hulu Langat;
v) SJK(C) Gurney, Hulu Selangor.
In addition to that, Selangor has allocated state land to SJKC Yak Chee and SMJK Katolik to build branch school at lot 65768 and 65766 at Tasik Prima Puchong in an Exco meeting dated 23rd September 2011. *(Document attachment 1 – Minit Keputusan Exco, 23 September 2011, BIL 46/30/2011.)
Therefore, I believe your inaccurate and somewhat irresponsible comment can be cleared up if you go through the attached official documents, including the latest approval by Selangor for land allocation to schools.
I would like to seek your attention and action on the above matter especially as you may have been unknowingly misled to believe that the Selangor government has not delivered on the question of land for Chinese schools in the state.
The Education Ministry, in which MCA’s youth chief Datuk Dr. Wee Ka Siong is deputy minister, has rejected the application by these schools to have branch schools in the allocated land, in response to an official letter from the Selangor state government. *(Document attachment 2 – Surat Setiausaha Kerajaan Selangor kepada Kementerian Pendidikan, 30 September 2011; Document attachment 3 – Surat Kementerian Pendidikan kepada Setiausaha Kerajaan Selangor, 25 November 2011).
For your information, all the said documents have been published on the Internet for public purview after Datuk Wee Ka Siong had distorted the facts on this issue and misled the public in the media. (Reference: http://teresakok.com/2012/02/06/why-is-mcas-wee-afraid-to-meet-dong-jiao-zong-over-school-land-allocated-by-sgor-govt/)
In relation, Datuk Chua Tee Yong was quoted in The Star (Nation page 6, 20th February 2012) issuing a warning to Malaysians about the spread of false information and political spinning in social media.
I agree with Datuk Chua Tee Yong’s statement and encourage you and Datuk Wee Ka Siong to learn from his call to stop political spinning of school land given by Selangor to the Chinese schools, but speak the truth when we furnish you with official documents.
Finally, in your recent debate with YAB Lim Guan Eng, you had repeatedly emphasized the contribution made by MCA to Chinese schools. I would like to seek your assistance to help these two schools get their permit from the Education Ministry to build its branches on the allocated land immediately, proving that MCA can walk the talk rather than resort to political spinning for personal gain.
Thank you for your kind attention.
Yours sincerely,

Dear Teresa,
Thank you for enlightening the public on this issue. Sad to see the MCA also talks like blinded
wanderers at times on such issues without checking the facts.
A TRUTH is a Truth!
Tq for getting the facts right . I hope dr chua don’t sell the basic rights of Education to the Putras. Tq
Chua Soi Lek, as a head of the MCA, you should think before you talks because this can cause serious ramifications and repercussions among the public who is or are oblivious of the fact that indeed the application was made and the land to build the chinese schools were allocated by the Selangor State Gov but was rejected by the Ministry. If you (Chua Soi Lek) are the head of the MCA speak irresponsibly and act without substantiated facts and evidences how are we as the netizens going to trust you. Kindly put the matter right and you should apolgise to the Public and the people who are hurt by your statement. We as the netizens feel regretful and very disappointed and exasperated that we have such a leader to represent the chinese unless you issued the public apology without further delay.
Is a known fact BN has misled the public for years.
Once again, as component party of BN, the MCA, in this incident, is seen to be collaborating to deny
the wishes of the people.
Preserving the mother tongue is the right of the people.
Dear YB Teresa Kok,
I am in my early 60s. I completed my Form 5 education at Confucian National Type Secondary School ( now known as SMJK Confucian in 1969.
As you are aware that Confucian school split into 3 schools, i.e., SRJK(C)confucian, SMJK Confucian and Confucian Independent School. I was given to understand that your father is very active in education field, particularly in Confucian School.
SMJK Confucian is currently sharing school premises with Confucian Independant School. I was given to understand that the existing school premises belongs to Confucian Independant School.
After more than 40 years since it split, SMJK Confucian cannot get land from Federal government to build it school buildings.
You are now in a position to help this oldest chinese secondary (more than 100 years old) in town to have its own premises.There aqre a few ideal sites in and around Petaling District. There is a piece of land in SS7, next to Royal Selangor Golf course, whic h is partly a pond. Another two pieces of land in Petaling Garden, nearer to Old Klang Road side, I am not sure if it belong to private owner or state land. Or, you may have some ideal land in Puchong area suigtable for SMJK Confucian.
If land is available for our school, I am sure, many of the few hundred thousands of former students of the school are willing to come forward to help the school raise fund for school buildings.
Hope to hear good news from you, YB.
