Dewan Rakyat sitting is near – send in your questions and concerns

Posted on Wednesday, 08-02-2012 by Teresa

As the next Parliament/ Dewan Rakyat sitting is fast approaching (12 March – 12 April 2011), and with the numerous government-related scandals and signs of incompetence among the national leaders, it is an opportunity for Malaysians to question the Cabinet on issues affecting the nation and on any other points of public interest.

I will submit my Parliament questions to the Dewan in the near future and would be happy to consider any matters you’d like to raise as well. Suggestions from members of the public, especially those living, working or schooling in Seputeh are very much welcomed.

Please do so by adding it to the comments link below. Each question should be very specific and directed to a specific ministry in order to receive an appropriate answer. Your questions/ suggestions should be constructed in under 40 words and written in Bahasa Malaysia. Do send in your submissions to me as soon as possible.

Thank you and don’t hold back, especially in this general elections year.

is it true that the Ulu Jelai Hydroelectric Project has been awarded to a consortium of TM/Salini for a cost of RM2.2b, which is RM400m more than the cost evaluated by the consultant?

Note: TM belong to Sultan of Pahang daughter.

I live in Happy Gardens, Old Klang Road. I am paying RM 100 a month for security fees. There are 88 out of 120 paying members. This amount to RM 1200 a year, much more than our Annual Assessment, Sewerage Charge and Quit Rent put together.
Security is one of the chief government function. Yet the rakyat are subsidising the Government instead to provide better security for ourself.
In additon, it causes incovenience to the rakyat. Roads are blocked and manned by foreigners, legal or otherwise. It make a mockery of our life being stopped by a foreigner in our own backyard. They even ask for our identification.
What about poor neighbourhods or neighbours who are unable to pay?
We have to go in a round-about-way to reach a destination. Roads are blocked and turned into illegal carparks.
If the government is unable to provide security to the rakyat, let the rakyat be give TAX REBATE equivalent to the amount paid yearly. It is not fair taxing the public but not providing the service. The money spent byr the rakyat should be refunded.
