MCA’s Wee Ka Siong distorts facts to cover-up party’s ineffectiveness

National Youth Chief for MCA and Deputy Education Minister Wee Ka Siong must be frank to the country’s Chinese community and admit that he is unable to help Chinese schools build branch schools. He should also stop distorting facts and telling lies with regards to the Selangor State Government’s efforts on providing land for Chinese schools as we have approved the necessary land for these schools and it is the Education Ministry which is not allowing the schools to go ahead with their plans to build branches.

It is clear that the reason Wee Ka Siong is repeatedly telling lies on the matter – by accusing the Selangor state government of merely giving support letters and not giving school reserved land to SMJK Katholik and SJKC Yak Chee to build branch schools – is to cover up the fact that MCA has no power in the education ministry and they are unable to get the necessary approval for the two schools to build branch schools.   

The fact of the matter is that the Selangor government had decided, in our EXCO meeting on 23 September 2011 to allocate the land – lot 65768 and lot 65766 at Tasik Prima Puchong – to SJKC Yak Chee, Catholic High School and an autism-training center. The EXCO paper on this decision is Kertas MMK. No. 46/40/2011. Furthermore, the Petaling Jaya District Chinese schools development committee and the schools’ board and PIBG have been given the paper on the decision. Alongside this, a letter issued by the Selangor state govt to the Secretary-General of the Education Ministry, announcing the land approval and supporting the schools’ intention to build branches, have been made available to the various parties. These plots of land belong to the state and not the federal government otherwise a decision and approval at the state level was not necessary. Therefore now, as long as the education ministry approves the construction of these two branch schools then the schools can submit the applications to start earth works.

Wee Ka Siong continues to lie to confuse the public and wishes to insult the state government and insult the wisdom of the leaders on the school board committees and PIBG of both schools. This is a political ploy by the MCA, which unfortunately affects innocent parties such as the schools and its students who merely want a chance to enjoy a comfortable environment to be educated and meet the needs of the increasing volume of students enrolling in the schools. This ploy has to stop.
