Media statement by Teresa Kok, MP for Seputeh dated 7 September 2010 at Shah Alam.
The absurd, irrational charge against Ong Boon Piow stinks of political intimidation and must be dropped immediately
The Perak State prosecutor’s charge against Tebing Tinggi assemblyman Ong Boon Piow for possessing 23 DVDs of the Perak “tree assembly” without approval from the Censorship Board again exposes the dirty tactics that the Perak state government will resort to to suppress information and intimidate their political opponents.
This case against Ong is clear-cut selective prosecution intended to intimidate BN’s political opponents. When illegal DVDs are commonly available in every corner, it is ridiculous that Ong Boon Piow be singled out for punishment.
Since MCA Perak has also distributed thousands of similar DVDs during that period and no charges were laid, the rule of natural justice dictates there must not be any prosecution in Ong’s case.
If convicted, Ong could be fined up to RM30,000 or jailed up to 3 years or both, and following that, disqualified as a state assemblyman. I believe that this trumped up charge is yet another underhanded tactic by Barisan Nasional to takeover another seat in the Perak assembly as they did in 2009.
The charge against Ong must be dropped immediately to retain any semblance of credibility for the government of Perak.

Charge all irrespective of their political affiliation, including those from MCA, and any person/s who have in the past violated the law doing the same act in order to be fair to all.
Cannot be selectively charging the opposition parties. Hey, incidentally, what about anyone who produces his/her own DVD like the Lembu case in Shah Alam? They had also violated the law; irrespective of whether they had produced one DVD or more. Would RTM, TV3, NTV7, Bernama be in this category as well?
I think the Msian authorities should charge about everyone who has anything to do with producing DVDs or CDs produced irrespective of their contents (religious, campaigns or otherwise).
Malaysia Boleh!!!!!!!!!!!

There is completely no integrity of our current bunch of guys running our judiciary. The general rakyat do not trust them.Just look at the verdicts at most cases recently..
I can bet they will try to sideline the case against DAP guy just to help their UMNO masters. That golliwog mamak MB and his cronies from Perak will be vindicate eventually if similar case was charge against them. As usaul, our “great” judiciary will dilly dally the case in the hope that rakyat will forget the whole episode just like TBH and the Mongolian woman brutal murder cases to mention a few.
