Kinrara assemblyman Teresa Kok will give RM3,000 from her constituency allocation to help landslip victim Chee Show Ying, 57.
“The contribution is to help her move to a council home,” said Teresa during a visit to assess the situation recently.
A landslip had occurred near Chee’s house in Jalan TK 7/4, Taman Kinrara 7, Puchong, on May 5.
According to Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) Engineering Department officers, it would be difficult for the MPSJ to carry out rectification work as the land was privately-owned and no building plans for Chee’s house had been submitted to the MPSJ for approval.
Danger zone: The landslip has been covered with plastic sheets but Chee says she cannot afford to pay for the rectification work.
They estimated that it would require more than RM100,000 to rectify the slope.
“We can only help the victim by placing her in a council home, getting a lorry to shift her belongings, and placing additional plastic sheets on the landslip site,” MPSJ Engineering Department director Ismail Shafie said.
Chee was offered a council home in Bandar Kinrara 6 after MPSJ president Datuk Adnan Md Ikshan’s visit last Saturday.
When asked why she did not submit the building plans before her house was built, Chee claimed she had been informed she was exempted from doing so.
Chee, who spent about RM100,000 to build her house in 2001, said she was unable to get the funds to carry out the rectification work due to her meagre income as a cleaner.
Teresa suggested that as a long-term solution, a developer or contractor could come in to develop Jalan TK 7/4, and buy over the land from Chee.
It was earlier reported that the 120 plots of land in Taman Kinrara 7, originally named Kampung Tersusun, were given to the residents of the old Jalan Puchong during the road-widening project.
