Murugiah stands firm, continues to probe Kok’s ‘dog food’ claims
Deputy Minister in the Prime Minster’s Department T. Murugiah says he is just doing his job
KLANG: Senator T. Murugiah is standing firm on his move to meet Selangor executive councillor Teresa Kok and probing her allegation of being served poor food while in detention under the Internal Security Act.
The Deputy Minister in the Prime Minster’s Department had come under fire from Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar for “interfering in the affairs of another ministry”.
Murugiah said that although he respected Syed Hamid as a senior minister, he had a duty to perform.
“As a junior (deputy) minister and head of the Complaints Bureau, I am receptive to criticism, but investigating complaints, even from the opposition, is one of my responsibilities.”
He said the government could not afford to practise double standards and that Kok’s allegations of being served food that she compared to dog food, had tarnished the image of the country.
Murugiah said he had obtained the green light from his minister, Tan Sri Bernard Dompok, to meet Kok.
“It was not an arbitrary decision on my part, although I did initiate the move.”
He also countered allegations that he was “interfering” in the affairs of another ministry, explaining that the Public Complaints Bureau served all ministries.
Last year, the bureau investigated 180 complaints related to the Home Ministry, Of these, 122 were solved while the rest are pending.
He said hundreds of complaints were received against other ministries and government departments, all of which are investigated and the findings forwarded to the prime minister.
“Syed Hamid’s criticisms are not justified because probing public complaints is my job and my obligations are to the public while being accountable to the prime minister.”
On Tuesday, Syed Hamid slammed Murugiah for implying that those in police custody were not given proper food.
He advised Murugiah to look after his own ministry and said it was not his job to complain about the quality of food, which he claimed met international standards.
During his investigations, Murugiah found that only RM4.50 was spent daily to feed each detainee and suggested that the allocation be increased.
Oh Syed Hamid … Oh Syed Hamid…. Don’t you see people; he is shivering with pattering effect within the cracking of his bone. For fear that the truth will set a judgmental believe that he is guilty of such a manipulation and conviction.
He can’t overcome his own conviction and adversary and hence began to dilute and corrode his own jurisdiction responsible within vis as vis his and co-worker responsibility and job functions. The psychology perception is that he may have all the support from the top person therefore he is in the freedom within the jurisdiction to exert his retention of the confident of the people of Malaysia by making more mistake. On the irony instead of gaining confidence, he is losing more votes on behalf for himself and UMNO and ultimately BN as a whole. The people are watching!
Maybe he is trying to redeem himself out of so many mistake that he has made as proclaim by Raja Petra Kamarudin: HEADS THEY WIN, TAILS I LOSE; http://MT.M2DAY.ORG/2008/CONTENT/VIEW/12913/84/
Once again we, the rakyat must stay firm and hold on to our stronghold; our faith, our believe and our votes to see thing happen for our future descendents to come.
We agree with you and we hope Murugiah will not be scared of bullies who claim to be more senior then you. If they are really experienced and good at their jobs, they don’t need to pull rank on him.
Anyway, we wish to request your assistance and also Murugiah on another matter which is really a shame and damaging to the public servants morale. Please read an excerpt from NST, “Ragu’s plight was highlighted in the New Straits Times yesterday.
He had been told by the NRD in Putrajaya to get a letter from Sultan Azlan Shah to enable him to obtain a permanent identification document. Ragu, his wife G. Neelaawathi, 27, and their three young children arrived here on Tuesday to meet Sultan Azlan Shah to obtain the necessary supporting document.
The family has been sleeping and bathing at petrol stations since their arrival here.”
As you can see, somebody made a big mistake causing this poor Malaysian family to seek the assistance of the Sultan of Perak when they could have been referred to you. We are sorry to ask you and/or Murugiah to meet with SH who had earlier told you to butt out but for the sake of the poor family, you must help them. We look forward to an early press statement from you on this matter. Please don’t allow the poor service rendered by NRD in Putrajaya be swept under the proverbial carpet. Thank you in the name of excellence in public service. Please note that because of the misnformation they have also inconvenienced the Sultan of Perak unnecessarily.
bravo deputy minister. in the face of verbal attack, you maintained your focus on your duty and come up with a rebuttal that make sense and professional.
good on you, sir.
Mr Murugiah, stand up for what you believe is right and just! Don’t let those UMNO goons intimidate you cos you know the majority of like-minded rakyat are fully behind you. What is right is right and what is wrong is wrong, and good will win over the evils that be eventually. God bless you and all those who stood up for the rights and just!
This pea brain foreign talking toad was again talking thru his a*seh*le. He has completely lost all his dignity(if he has in the first place) and sense of direction. He still has yet to give a satisfactory explanation to the rakyat on why Teresa and reporter Tan were arrested under his draconian ISA.
And now he is trying to display his utter stupidity not only to a junior minister but also the rakyat.
Real downright digraceful and shame.
This is the type of so call government civil servant that make Malaysia a laughing stock to the world.
On another light, I hope Murugiah will continue to do his job irrespective. Just ignore this bum completely.
Just read that some bums have throw molotov cocktails into our Parliamentrian Teresa house. These bums are not only sore losers but also bums with no brains at all. Who knows, these bums are “bought” by somebody with an evil agenda. Hope the peace loving rakyat will help protect Teresa who is doing a great job for the rakyat and the country.
As for our representative Teresa, keep doing what is right for the rakyat irrespective.
These evil bums will NOT succeed.
